About this event

Why Should I Consider Becoming a Foster Parent?

More than 600 District children and teens live outside of their birth homes, under the care of the public child welfare system. These young people deserve to grow up with the security, guidance, and support of family environment. Foster parents provide a safe, nurturing home for children or teens temporarily separated from their families through no fault of their own. By becoming a foster parent, you will help strengthen our city’s children, families, and communities.

What Will This Session Provide?

This information session will help you understand how foster care works in the District of Columbia and whether fostering or child-specific adoption is right for you. Presenters will explain DC’s foster care system, discuss the supports that CFSA provides foster parents, and highlight youth currently looking for their forever family.
