Austin Butler, Jonathan Majors, and More Cover New Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue
Vanity Fair released its coveted Hollywood issue honoring the buzziest actors of the moment including Austin Butler, Jonathan Majors, and more. These are stars that the public loves and Vanity Fair took notes, ringing them in as the hottest in the game.
This year’s Hollywood issue, the 29th edition, was released on February 15. The cover story featured 12 young actors considered to be icons of the moment. Vanity Fair sat down with each of them to discuss their careers, what they have learned about acting, and what is next for each of them.

While this group is full of young talent just out the gate in their careers, it is clear for some of them that there are Oscars in their futures. In fact, two of this year’s Oscar nominees are in the Hollywood cover issue; Ana De Armas has a nomination for Best Actress for Blonde, as well as Austin Butler who is nominated for Best Actor for Elvis. These two have a lot in common as they both played legends of the past, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley respectively, and they are working towards being legends of today. Butler remarks, ”I’ve been fortunate because I’ve just been working. Working is very humbling. You’re only as good as you are in that scene.”
In terms of previous nominees, Florence Pugh has recognition in this issue as well. She received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in Little Women in 2020 and was recently seen in Don’t Worry Darling The Wonder, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, and Black Widow. Despite her prominent success, she stays down to earth as she believes, “Just be honest and open—then no one has to call you out for anything. You are who you are.”

Many of these young thespians have seriously proven themselves in the movie industry. For example, Aaron Taylor Johnson is one name that has been gracing some of the biggest screens for some time. He has done films like Kick-Ass, Nocturnal Animals, and, more recently, Bullet Train. He’s had the attention of fans for a while, but his career is only getting started.
This is also true for Keke Palmer. She obtained her start as a child star and has been consistently working for years, but she received an even bigger boost recently with her amazing performance and starring role in Jordan Peele’s Nope. When talking about her rise, she states, “Getting new opportunities on even wider scales has made me an even stronger version of myself.”

Some actors in the Hollywood issue are dominating the television world. This is the case for three-time Emmy award winner Julia Garner. Garner has received great acclaim for her performance in the TV drama Ozark, which has consistently brought her Emmy wins. She also received praise for portraying the main role in the limited series Inventing Anna. Expounding on her career, she believes, “The whole point of my job is for people to relate to me and feel moved and escape.”
Another young TV star that broke out this past year is Jeremy Allen White. While he first became famous for his role in Shameless, he showed his performing chops this year in The Bear, which is how he earned a Golden Globe award. Based on this stand-out role, it seems there’s a lot in store for him.
This could also be expressed about newcomer Emma Corrin. Corrin had their breakout role in The Crown where they played the late Princess Diana. Corrin won a Golden Globe for their performance, and when it comes to their view of acting, they stated, “The beauty of acting is taking on a character that doesn’t necessarily have to be completely in tune with your own experience. It’s sort of a way to explore.”

When it comes to the new heartthrobs, the pubic certainly has its eyes on Rege Jean-Page. After starring in season 1 of Bridgerton, everyone wanted a piece of him and were waiting to see how he would match the praise of that dreamy Netflix role. He muses on his success by saying, “The trick is to make sure that you focus on your job as hard as you did when you were struggling to get your job.”
Now, when talking about recent successful television, it is hard to forget about Squid Game. That is why one of its leads, Hoyeon, was recognized in this Hollywood issue. This was Hoyeon’s first acting job, as most of her success is from being a model. However, after an Emmy nomination, there’s more to come from her entertainment career.

There is also more to be seen from Jonathan Majors, who has had a successful career in television and movies. Majors received an Emmy nomination for his role in Lovecraft Country. In the film world, he received praise for his performance as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel universe including the recent release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and for his work in Da 5 Bloods, Devotion, and The Harder They Fall. He also stars in the upcoming Creed III with Tessa Thompson and Michael B. Jordan. He can do no wrong when it comes to TV and film.

Majors commented on how he’s taking in all of his success at the moment by stating, “The other day, I was talking outside in the parking lot with my agent, waiting for the gym to open, and I was saying to him, “It’s the long throw.” A lot of guys in the theater—Keith Randolph Smith, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Michael Potts—I was meeting these guys when I was in my 20s and these gentlemen are 60 years old. Those are the actors that I grew up watching. I’m aspiring to be that. I think a lot of folks are going short when they should be going long. But I’m very happy with how everything is going.”
To round out some of the highlights from this special edition, there is the largely successful Selena Gomez. After getting her start as a child actress and building up a career as a pop singer, she has made her way through the television world. Her role in Only Murders in the Building has brought her great critical praise and a Golden Globe Nomination. Sharing what she has learned in the industry, Gomez expressed, “The bigger you get, the more humble I would encourage you to be. Hold on to your heart, try to be the best, you can be, and be careful about who to trust because you are who you surround yourself with.”
This is no doubt a talented group of young stars, and we will wait to see what they have in store for the world next.
