Welcome to “Turkey Human Rights Dispatch,” the Stockholm Center for Freedom’s (SCF) weekly newsletter. Every Wednesday we share with you the latest developments in the area of human rights in Turkey. As the Turkish government continues its crackdown on media and civil society, it is becoming increasingly difficult to learn about human rights violations in the mainstream media. We aim to highlight rights violations and give voice to victims from all walks of life during this difficult period.
European Court of Human Rights condemns Turkey over post-coup arrests of judges and prosecutors
 
The European Court of Human Rights on Tuesday ruled that Turkey had acted unlawfully by arresting more than 400 judges and prosecutors immediately after a 2016 coup attempt.

Responding to a complaint brought by 427 members of the Turkish judiciary, the court said their detentions were marked by “unlawfulness” and ordered Ankara to pay 5,000 euros in damages to each applicant. More..
