The president of the Alicante Provincial Council, Carlos Mazón, has announced a 58 million euro investment which will be allocated directly to the 141 municipalities in the province in order to help the local authorities to plan and programme their investments and expenses during 2022.

Some 30 million euros of the PLAN+ Cerca will be re-issued – both for current expenditure and for investments – whilst 9 million euros will be destined for municipal social aid and another 9 million euros allocated as complementary funds to support the hospitality sector, self-employed and commerce, whilst a further 5 million euros each will be distributed to the +DEPORTE and +AGUA initiatives.

The president explained that “it is an extraordinary 58 million euros that will be at the disposal of the town councils of the province from the very beginning, so that they can tackle next year with good planning and programming and mitigate, to the extent allowed by the Provincial Council, the inappropriate competition assumed by the municipalities”.

He added that “it is time to organize and prepare the budgets and I announce that the accounts of the Provincial Council for 2022 are closing and that we are going to reach out again to the rest of the political groups of the provincial council to see if we are able to optimize the consensus and the agreement reached this year, both with the government coalition between the PP and Ciudadanos as well as with the PSOE and Compromís”.

The president explained that the budgets for the next fiscal year will focus on the search for consensus, on the analysis of the amendments and proposals of all the groups and on extraordinary funds.

“I hope that the ordinary budget becomes a Provincial Pact again for the hard and special year that will be 2022. We will put on the table extraordinary contributions with the extension of that we have already allocated from our surplus and amounting to 58 million euros, an amount that the Governing Board will approve jointly and complementary to the ordinary budgets of the Provincial Council”.
