August 2021

Hello,

We've got some good news to share with you this month - 20,000 UK citizens are now certified as Carbon Literate! This has resulted in over 40,000 pledges to directly address climate change and immediately reduce UK carbon emissions. You can read more about this milestone, the over 550 certifications in Wales and quotes from our trainers; Rhodri and Bethan.

This gives us hope, especially as we continue to witness extreme weather events driven by climate change become increasingly severe and visible. Carbon Literacy, is often a first step for many to understanding the challenges we face and helps to empower individuals and organisations to take practical steps to combatting the climate crisis as we await COP26 and the release of the IPCC report next week.

From August 10th - we will be celebrating the Living Wage Movement's 20th anniversary with the UK-wide network of employers. Last month, we launched the official Living Wage Wales website and have been releasing new content weekly and will continue to do so up until Living Wage Week 2021- which will be a bigger opportunity to celebrate and come together. Join us in acknowledging the hard work of those involved in the movement so far, and the money put back into employee's pockets.
