Review of Urban Decay Stay Naked Hydromaniac Tinted Glow Hydrator

I really enjoyed applying this new dewy foundation. It has an elastic quality about it. As I put it on with my fingers, it feels like it is stretching over the skin in a very pleasant way. Immediately, it gives skin a lovely juicy, dewy finish – just how I like it! I find the more you apply, the easier it glides over the skin.

Coverage

It feels balmy, and I really like how much coverage it offers up. I think it covers really well, and it layers beautifully to build the coverage. You can still see skin, but it softly evens out the skin tone and gives skin a juicy appearance.

You can go really light for a sheer, soft coverage that subtly perfects the skin, or you can layer up to increase the coverage. I tailored the layers to where I wanted more coverage and focused the product in the centre of my face and on the T-zone, blending outwards.

I also used Hydromaniac to conceal under my eyes and tapped a small amount on in an extra layer under the eye area and on the lids. As it is very hydrating, I found this worked really well for me. I love a dewy finish under the eyes.

Do you need to set it?

As I often do when I am testing foundation, I skipped powder (you probably know I am not really a powder girl). This is risky for a dewy foundation and combination skin.

Both times I have tried this base, I didn’t set it, and although I was pretty glowy by the end of the night, I wasn’t mad at at. My skin looked lovely and dewy and I asked my partner if he thought it was too shiny, and he said it looked good. I have worn it on two zooms now with just a bit of bronzer (no powder) and had compliments on how healthy I looked both times.

I have to say, my skin is a lot drier than it used to be, so I think you will want to powder any oily areas if you don’t want to shine too much. Also, go lighter if you are worried about which shade to choose, it does get a little darker as you wear it. I don’t mind this as it’s light and juicy and I like to bronze anyway.

What Skin Type is Hydromanic Good For?

If you have a lot to cover, oily skin, and a fairly textured surface or very enlarged pores, you may not like this. I have mature skin that is fairly smooth in texture and I absolutely love this. I think it does a great job on redness and hyperpigmentation.

Basically, avoid if you are oily and prefer a matte finish, and give it a go if you are a dry and mature skin type, and want to glow.

  • Hi. I am new to wearing foundation and I have ordered some of this to try. I have some dry skin in certain spots on my face, so my question is, did you use a moisturizer before applying this foundation? Or should I be using some type of primer beforehand? Sorry for all of the questions… Thanks in advance for any advice =)
