Uniting the World in One Common Purpose

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

As you get ready during the next three weeks, think about ways you can connect your campaign to the global movement:
  • Remind your supporters, volunteers, and community that GivingTuesday is global. Get them excited to be a part of a bigger community.
  • Make your campaign global by getting your different country offices to coordinate messaging and activities. World Bicycle Relief, for example, coordinated their goal to raise funds for bikes across their US, Canada, UK, and Australia offices last year.
  • Partner with a like-minded organization on a campaign. For example, if you work at a school, reach out to a school in another city or country and work together on your GivingTuesday activities. You could do a fundraising challenge or create content for your student community.
  • Find an organization in your sister city and partner with them on your messaging. You could ask donors to match the number of miles between your cities or leverage the different international activities and hashtags to boost awareness for your campaign.
  • Use our logos, hashtag, and core messaging in our communications toolkit to talk about your campaign within the broader global context.
Every organization and every campaign contributes to the larger movement. We are so excited to see GivingTuesday grow around the world, and can't wait to celebrate with you and your team this December 3!

The GivingTuesday Team

GivingTuesday CEO, Asha Curran recently spoke with WINGS about the rapid growth of the GivingTuesday movement,.her thoughts on the impact of technology, and the power of a more democratic philanthropy. Read the full article here.
