Share your home and heart, and be rewarded as a Shared Lives Carer.
We’re looking for caring people to help provide support to adults over the age of 18 with learning disabilities, mental health needs, physical disabilities, and elderly people.
Depending on the needs of the person you support, and the type of care you provide, the weekly allowance ranges from £235 to £689 . You’ll also benefit from generous tax arrangements, with many carers not paying anything.
We actively welcome people from different backgrounds, religions, races, genders, and sexuality. Whatever your relationship or employment status – we assess every application on an individual basis.
That’s because we know different people can offer different levels of support, time, and commitment – which is why there is flexibility in the types of care you can offer. Whether it’s short term, long term, regular respite, or emergency, there’s something for everyone.
You don’t need qualifications or experience (we’ll provide training!), all we ask for is the right attitude and willingness to support vulnerable people to live a full and active life.
If you have this, as well as enough room and a spare room in your home or rental accommodation you can be a Shared Lives Carer.
Of course, whilst you’ll be making a difference to someone else’s life as a Shared Lives Carer, it’ll also bring so much to your life too. You can hear from some of carers on our website here.
Sharing really is caring. If you would like more information or to have an informal chat, contact a member of the team on 01977 722254 or email sharedlives@wakefield.gov.uk.
