Time can feel like putty when you’re staring at the same four walls. There are days when seconds feel like they could stretch to infinity. Other days, time seems to contract. You catch yourself feeling mildly surprised that it’s been months since you’ve seen other people.

Many people have joked that they’ve lost their sense of time during the Covid-19 pandemic — but the underlying idea, known as time blindness, is a real phenomenon.
