At the 2019 People's Choice Awards ceremony, Avengers: Endgame star Robert Downey Jr. took home two awards: Male Movie Star and Action Movie Star of 2019. During his brief acceptance speech for the Male Movie Star Award, the longtime Iron Man star dedicated it to Stan Lee.

"Well, look, I just got to come up here and open the show, so I'll just say: thank you, Disney; thank you, Marvel; thank you, Russo brothers; and most of all, to the late, great Stan Lee -- this is for you, buddy," he said, holding his award up for all to see.

The co-creator of such characters as Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Avengers, Black Panther and the X-Men, Lee passed away at age 95 last year. Lee served as editor-in-chief and art director, as well as the principal writer, of Marvel until 1972. Since 2000's X-Men, Lee has become famed for his film and television cameos, up through Avengers: Endgame itself.

Downey, of course, was part of the MCU's bedrock. After starring in 2008's Iron Man, he went on to reprise the role in 10 more Marvel films. His character Tony Stark sacrificed his life to stop Thanos in Endgame, which released this year.

Avengers: Endgame, Downey's final Marvel Cinematic Universe film, was directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and also starred Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Paul Rudd, Don Cheadle, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Bradley Cooper and more. The film is now available on Digital HD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD.
