A selection of special covers for the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game was recently unveiled, alongside more information on the system's mechanics.

Revealed through a recent batch of solicitations, and confirmed by ComicBook.com, Marvel shared a peek at some of the special covers players can expect for the official Playtest booklet which launches in 2022. The first is a stylish image of Scarlet Witch by Eisner-winning artist Peach Momoko. Wanda Maximoff is captured using her trademark magic to manipulate three dice, which together display the number "616." This is both a nod to mainline Marvel continuity and a reference to the proprietary "d616" system used by the Marvel Multiverse RPG. The second image, illustrated by Logan Lubera, features a variety of iconic superheroes including Captain America, Black Panther, Shang-Chi, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Hawkeye (Kate Bishop), Hulk and Storm.

Beyond the new covers for the playtest booklet, Marvel also confirmed some minor new details about its latest tabletop RPG. While the game can be played by just two people, a maximum party of six is recommended, although more heroes are possible depending on the story. The playtest booklet will contain rules on how to build your own Marvel character but will also include a variety of pre-generated sheets for heroes like Spider-Man, Thor, Wolverine, Ms. Marvel and more. The booklet will be 104 pages long and will retail for an MSRP of $9,99 USD.

Players looking to run a game with the Marvel Multiverse system can look forward to a fresh new system conceived by the publisher. While many RPGs use a variety of different dice, players will only need six d6 dice. These are rolled to determine whether a character succeeds or fails an action, with stat modifiers affecting the overall outcome. Players will select their various strengths and weaknesses by placing points into Might, Agility, Resilience, Vigilance, Ego and Logic. As per the name of the system, when an adventurer is lucky enough to roll 6-1-6, so-called "fantastic results" will transpire.

There's no solid release date for the full version of Marvel Multiverse RPG as the publisher is still in the process of fine-tweaking and tuning the game. Players who purchase the playtest booklet, which will be available in March 2022, will be provided with a means to send feedback directly to Marvel so that adjustments and balance changes may be conducted ahead of the final release.
