The Open Invention Network (OIN) has added software packages from Automotive Grade Linux, exFAT, Hadoop, Hyperledger, Robot OS, Apache Kafka, Spark, and others to its Linux System Definition.
OIN, the largest patent non-aggression community in history, says the action helps reduce patent risk associated with core Linux and adjacent open source code. This expansion includes 520 new software components, which brings the total number of protected packages to 3,393, according to the announcement.
“This Linux System expansion enables OIN to keep pace with open source innovation, promoting patent non-aggression in the core,” says Keith Bergelt, CEO of Open Invention Network.
