Top 6 Learning, Development and HR Podcasts 2019

Time flies! It’s two years since I first published my recommended top six learning podcasts. But of course, as the popularity of podcasts soar, I’ve come across some real gems recently. That means it’s time to update my top six Learning, Development and HR Podcasts. Enjoy!

1. Learning Uncut

Top of the list is Learning Uncut from our dear friends Michelle Ockers, Karen Maloney and Amanda Ashby. What I love about Michelle, Karen, and Amanda’s podcast is that they are showcasing real examples of what’s happening in the learning and development world that we can all learn from. It’s conversational, informative and enjoyable to listen to. In fact, I was lucky enough to be their first returning guest! We recently recorded a podcast with JD Dillon all about Learning Conference which will be available soon.

2. Learning is the New Working

I recently met Chris Pirie at the HR Tech Fest in Auckland. In his podcast, Chris has some fascinating conversations and the show is in its second series. Based in the US, Chris is really across what is happening over there and chats with influencers in the learning and development landscape. My favourite episode is ‘The Accountability is the Learning‘ with Kate Shaw – Director of Learning at Airbnb.

3. GoodPractice

With 158 episodes to chose from, this must be a firm favourite for any learning podcast devotee! The weekly show, featuring regular appearances from members of the GoodPractice team plus the occasional special guest, gets right to the heart of issues affecting the L&D and HR communities. From learning-needs analysis and evidence-based practice through to the impact of technology on work and hot topics at industry conferences, you can get critical insights into the world of work, learning and performance.

4. Trainer Tools

Brought to us from John Tomlinson in Europe, the concept is simple – to share effective training tools and tips across the training community in order to make all of us into more effective learning and development professionals. In each Trainer Tools episode, John Tomlinson interviews an experienced trainer and asks them to share a particular tool, tip or other content that can be of practical use to the learning and development community. I was thrilled to feature on John’s podcast a while back – you can listen to the episode here.

5. TD Podcasts from the ATD

I’m a huge fan of content from the ATD. The ATD’s podcast consists of audio readings of articles from ATD’s TD Magazine. The goal is to provide useful information on current best practices, share new technologies, report on emerging trends and address relevant and pivotal issues to the field.

6. This Space is Open!

What do you recommend? I’d love to hear about your favourite learning podcasts. The sixth slot on my list is open and ready for your input!
