Emotion Amplifiers was my first of the "Thesaurus" books, which are on my writing desk at all times. I call this one my "Ramp-It-Up" Go To Guide". When I find a scene is lagging yet is important to my storyline I go to the Emotion Thesaurus to grab an amplifier that will ramp up the emotion, thus better engaging my readers.
Emotion Amplifiers, when used in conjunction with the Emotion Thesaurus, Positive Trait Thesaurus & Negative Trait Thesaurus, is a valuable tool. I highly recommend all of the Thesaurus collection. The ones I named above plus Urban, Rural and the new Emotion Thesaurus 2nd edition.

I love-love-LOVE this book, and -- for the price (free!) -- you won't find a better resource for power words. If you're a student of Margie Lawson's courses, this book is a must-own.

However, I really-really-REALLY wish this was available in print. For me, references like this are easiest to use when I can flip through the (paper) pages, and not shift back & forth from (left brain) digital/screen mode to (right brain) creative, tactile, writing mode.

Don't let that small criticism deter you from owning (and using) this book. And be sure to check Ms. Ackerman's other thesauruses that ARE in printed (paper) format, as well as in Kindle.

If you're writing ANYthing, you probably need these books.

I read this book to help me enhance my characters which will add more depth and credibility to the story. With that said, I found this book to be helpful outside of the writing world too.
I found pieces of myself within the pages. There are ways to see others on the inside. These authors did a wonderful job with this resource. It can be a tool for more than just writers, therapists, those seeking to become therapists, counselors, doctors, nurses, and such.
I am excited to read and utilize these authors other tools.

Super helpful, very inspiring. Love this book and will be buying more as I can. Gives a great selection of basically different descriptive words for emotions. Your character isn't just exhausted, oh no, their eyelids are heavy, their appearance is unkempt, and their forgetful and slapping their cheeks to wake up:) They might be obvious things, but sometimes, when you are in a rut, you can't think of the simplest stuff. This book triggers your senses, our ability to picture the imaginary and really get a good feel.

What can I say? This, and all of these writers aids are so helpful. The lay out is easy to use, the cross references made are very helpful. You are given enough information for inspiration without being told how to write. If you are stuck on an idea, need to breath life into a character you can't personally relate to, never been to the beach but want your setting there, your muse is on vacation or you're suffering from writers block this book is for you.

I highly recommend this, and their other books for any writers desk.

I like all the thesaurus books these women write, but this one was a bit disappointing to me. My first complain it that there are only 15 emotions discussed. I wanted ideas for more, like fear, anger, mistrust, shock, agreement and disagreement, depression, joy, love (beyond attraction) and so on. I know these are *amplifiers*, but it could have been expanded. The emotions covered are, as usual, very well done and helpful, but I wanted more. My second complaint is that this is only available through kindle. Granted it is a tiny work due to the lack of emotions covered, but I hate eBooks. I would like a paper version, even if that meant 5 printed pages in a folder. I find eBooks very inconvenient. Therefore, this only merits 3 stars as far as I'm concerned. How's that for an emotion?
