ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK Movie In The Works with the Screenwriter of IT

If you grew up in the 90s and watched a lot of TV you are probably familiar with Are You Afraid of the Dark?, a horror fantasy-themed anthology that aired on Nickelodeon. Now it looks like the popular teen series may be coming back to life in the form of a feature film.

The Tracking Board reports that Paramount Players is adapting the beloved show and have already hired Gary Dauberman (It, Annabelle: Creationto pen the script. Plot details are being kept under wraps and it's not clear if the film will have a similar anthology format, or just be one single storyline.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? was one of the key shows from the Nickelodeon's memorable SNICK lineup in the ’90s. The show launched in 1992 and followed a group of teens who referred to themselves as The Midnight Society. Every week, at a secret location in the woods, one of the members would tell a scary story to the rest of the group, some of which were based on public domain fairy tales, short stories or urban legends.

The show ran until April 1996, and a revival series with new writers, directors, and cast members was produced by Nickelodeon from 1999 to 2000.

And now with the massive popularity of Netflix's Stranger Things, and the horror feature It, it makes perfect sense to give this franchise a try.

What do you guys think?
