MAKEUP THROUGH THE AGES:

PART 2

Last week, we took you through some of our favourite past makeup, Queens. From Cleopatra to Empress Wu, ladies have conquered with a face full of makeup – simply proving makeup is not as unprofessional as once deemed. From our old school days, we’ve always been taught only grown women must wear makeup, but even upon growing and entering the workplace, suddenly too much makeup leads to awful connotations and assumptions such as you not taking your work seriously and committing too much time to vanity. We’re sorry, did we hear that correctly? Makeup is a style choice and ultimately holds no direct relation to how seriously you take your career. If anything, makeup has come a long way as a form of identity and self-expression. Many women cling to their favourite products as they simply feel ready to conquer their world – and, why shouldn’t they?  This week, we take a look at some of

This week, we take a look at some of the favourite rocking Makeup Artists that have changed the world's perception of Makeup.

LISA ELDRIDGE

Thriving in her role as Lancôme’s global creative director, Lisa’s passion for makeup has long guided her through life. She’s worked with a long list of famous models, taken part in numerous Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle Magazine photoshoots, changing women into fierce icons. Her list of celebrity clientele, a bestseller book under her belt and leading cosmetic companies such as No7 and Lancôme, Eldridge proves not only can you wear makeup and be successful – but it can also be your living entirely. Bravo, Lisa!

CHARLOTTE TILBURY

A makeup goddess to the stars and to numerous worldwide Vogue covers, Charlotte’s creativity and passion for makeup is every bit as rich as all looks she creates. She’s won many awards including the Rodial Award for Best Make-up Artist 2012 as well as been nominated for Veuve Clicquot Businesswoman of the Year 2016 – a title wholly deserved. In 2013, we saw Charlotte launch her own skincare and beauty brand at SSelfridgesLondon. Since then, her products have become beauty counter staples in luxury department stores, with her very own Charlotte Tilbury store also recently opened in the Westfield mall, London. If you’ve had the pleasure of visiting the store in person, you will know it is every makeup junkie’s absolute dream. Well done Charlotte for proving a passion for makeup and business can go hand in hand to create an uprising beauty empire.

RIHANNA

Unless you’ve been in hiding, you should know by now Rihanna has released her own makeup line ‘Fenty’ and the world is going crazy. Only being released in Harvey Nichols London, staff members saw queues reaching outside the building and stock quickly selling out. We may know Rihanna as the queen of Punk/Pop with a reggae twist we cannot get enough of, but her incredible style is simply unforgettable and she has only taken this further with her new makeup line. Dubbed the makeup line for ‘all skin colours, all undertones, form all countries’, it promises full coverage and pigmented products that sit well on any skin tone. Not only do we have another incredible spokesperson for why makeup and professionalism can work hand in hand, but Rihanna has taken this further to create user friendly products for all women. Marvellous.
