Loudoun Education Foundation

Goal: $12,000.00

Specific Need

The Diversifying the Teaching Workforce Scholarship is Loudoun Education Foundation’s newest scholarship, dedicated to supporting aspiring educators who are from populations under-represented in the teaching workforce. There is consistent evidence that students of all demographics benefit academically when taught by a diverse faculty.

The $12,000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior or LCPS classified staff member planning to pursue a college degree with the intention of becoming a licensed teacher and whose employment would reduce the inequities in the diversity of the teacher workforce. Our goal is to award 3 scholarships in 2024.

There’s a lot that makes Loudoun County a great place to live, work, play, and learn. Among them is the diverse makeup of its residents. In just the past couple of years, Loudoun County Public Schools underwent a historic shift to a student population that, for the first time, is no longer majority white. In fact, students who are Asian, Hispanic, Black, and/or Pacific Islander now make up 57% of the student body. That diversity gives us a lot to celebrate. But it also highlights an area with room for improvement: the racial make up of the county’s educators has not kept pace with the changing demographics.

We need your help to build this fund!
