Kick-Ass creator working on first comic book for Netflix

After producing original TV series and films, Netflix is ready to embark on a new quest: creating an original comic book.

Mark Millar, creator of comics series like Kick-Ass, Wanted and Kingsman: The Secret Service, will pen a new comic, called The Magic Order. The Magic Order will be written by Millar and drawn by Olivier Coipel (Thor, The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man), according to a press release from Netflix. The official synopsis for the comic can be read below:

We live in a world where we’ve never seen a monster and these people are the reason we sleep safely in our beds. Magic meets the mob in The Magic Order, as five families of magicians sworn to protect our world for generations must battle an enemy who’s picking them off one by one. By day they live among us as our neighbors, friends and co-workers, but by night they are the sorcerers, magicians and wizards that protect us from the forces of darkness ... unless the darkness gets them first.

The Magic Order marks the first comic that Millar will work on with Netflix since his company, Millarworld, was acquired by Netflix in August. The series will run six issues and debut in spring 2018. It’s unclear if Netflix plans to turn the comic series into an original TV show or film, but the possibility is there.

The Magic Order will be available to purchase both in-store and through digital comics retailers.
