After making a deal with Hawkins Lab, Hopper and Joyce entered the Upside Down to rescue Will.

Hopper and Joyce were caught trying to break into Hawkins Lab, so Hopper made the secretive government agents a deal: If he could enter the Upside Down to save Will, then Hopper would tell them where to find Eleven.

Joyce and Hopper went into the Upside Down and rescued Will, while the Hawkins Lab leaders headed to the middle school where Eleven was hiding with Mike, Dustin, and Lucas.

While in the Upside Down, Hopper had a series of flashbacks to his daughter's illness and eventual death.

By the season one finale, it was clear Hopper was carrying the weight of grief with him over his daughter Sarah's untimely death. His resolution to find and rescue Will seemed to stem from the fact that he was unable to save his own child years ago.

Though the first season of "Stranger Things" never explained what exactly happened to Sarah, David Harbour (Hopper) said her cause of death is something that will be explored with his character on future seasons.

Barbara Holland was found dead in the Upside Down, and five others went missing but weren't acknowledged in the finale.

Barb was taken by the Demogorgon into the Upside Down after Nancy semi-abandoned her during a small party at Steve Harrington's house. Barb wasn't as lucky in the Upside Down as Will — the Demogorgon killed her and appeared to be using her body to slowly feed.

While a lot of attention was paid to Will on the finale, not much was said about Barb's death nor the other reported missing people who were likely snatched by the Upside Down's monster. But don't forget, the Hawkins Lab agents staged clues (like putting Barb's car at a bus station) to make it look like she had simply run away.

Eleven killed a group of Hawkins Lab's "bad men" and the head honcho Agent Connie Frazier.

When the Hawkins Lab agents descended upon the school, Eleven killed at least ten of them by presumably crushing their heads from the inside. This severely weakened Eleven, but was much-needed vengeance for Agent Frazier's murder of the first person who tried to help Eleven — Benny Hammond.

Dr. Brenner, Eleven's "papa," was attacked by the Demogorgon.

When Eleven killed the agents, their blood attracted the Demogorgon and it burst through the wall. The monster leapt onto Dr. Brenner (who Eleven called "Papa"), giving the kids the chance to run away.

Then Eleven saved Mike, Dustin, and Lucas from the Demogorgon.

Despite her weakened state, Eleven stood back up when the Demogorgon was readying an attack on the boys. She used her powers to keep Mike or anyone from interfering, and destroyed the Demogorgon by blasting it into teeny pieces.

But when Mike, Dustin and Lucas looked up again, Eleven was nowhere in sight. That was the last we saw of her on season one.

Hopper was seen getting into a mysterious car after leaving the hospital where Will was brought.

Once Will was safely at a hospital and had awoken once more, Hopper left and was immediately picked up by an unmarked black car. Were these Hawkins Lab people? Or perhaps someone else from Hopper's past? Either way, he didn't hesitate to get in, which signaled to viewers that he was expecting to be picked up at some point.

Nancy and Steve wound up together in the end.

Despite her growing bond with Jonathan throughout the first season, Nancy ended up with Steve after he apologized for being a jerk and then saved her from the Demogorgon using that crazy nail-covered bat.

The finale jumped forward one month after Will's rescue, and we saw Nancy give Jonathan a new camera (to make up for the one Steve destroyed). She then went back into her living room and cuddled up with Steve and his reindeer Christmas sweater.

Will saw a flash of the Upside Down and he coughed up a weird slug.

After the one-month jump, we saw Will and his family having a normal Christmas dinner. But when Will went to the bathroom, he saw a strange sudden flash that made it look like he was back in the Upside Down.

Then he coughed violently until a small slimy creature came out of his mouth, landed in the sink, and slipped down the drain.

Hopper took a container of leftovers and some Eggo waffles to a storage box in the woods.

Does Hopper know something we don't? Netflix

After leaving the police department's holiday party early, Hopper drove to the "Mirkwood" forest and left food inside a storage box. The Eggo waffles made it seem as if he was leaving dinner for Eleven, but where is she? Does Hopper know, or is he just hoping she's out there somewhere?

The "Stranger Things 2" trailers have made it no secret that Eleven is still alive, but haven't indicated where she's been or what she's been up to. Hopper may know, but fans have to wait until Friday to see for themselves.
