The new NatureTTL YouTube channel, which is produced by NatureTTL.com in partnership with B&H Photo Video, has released a new tutorial video. The new video, seen below, is about how to shoot and process a day to night time-lapse.

For the curious reader, the gear used for the tutorial below includes a Nikon D750 camera with a Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 lens. The tutorial is presented by photographer Matthew Saville and he used LRTimelapse to process the images.

As you can see, scouting and planning ahead is particularly important for time-lapses like a day to night transition with the Milky Way because you need to be positioned in an ideal direction and be familiar with how the stars will move across the night sky, plus you need to know what sort of moonlight might be present, as a bright moon can wash out the Milky Way. The right equipment is important too. Saville uses radian motion control devices from Alpine Labs, which you can see here. You'll be shooting for a long time, so don't forget an external battery kit to allow continuous shooting without disrupting your camera setup.
