The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are almost here, and while the hardware itself is exciting, you can take advantage of many of their extra features with some accessories.

Fast charging and wireless charging may be supported, but neither of those features will work with what comes in the iPhone's box. But we've got you covered.

While this list covers the essentials, I've also provided links to a couple of our guides and other iPhone articles, so you can see a whole lot more of your options.

A wireless charging pad

The iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X are the first iPhone models to support wireless charging, but to take advantage of it you'll need a wireless charging pad. You should definitely consult our guide before making a choice, but our top pick is RAVPower's Fast Wireless Charger because of its speed. Early reports suggest that wireless charging on the iPhone is currently kind of slow, but Apple has said a future update to iOS could increase the amount of power the iPhone can accept.

Speaking of wireless, if the iPhone 8 will be your first one without a headphone jack, you'll probably want a pair of Bluetooth headphones. Again, we have a guide that you should consult, but I'm going to make different recommendation.

I review headphones often, but between reviews I like using iFrogz's Impulse Duo. This pair of earbuds is convenient to use thanks to its smart design, and while the audio quality isn't audiophile-worthy, it's still pretty good. Headphones can also get expensive, but the Impulse Duo will cost you less than $50, and help you determine whether wireless headphones are right for you.

While wireless charging is one of the flashier features of the new iPhones, the fact that they all support fast charging shouldn't be overlooked. Fast charging requires an adapter and proprietary cable, but as someone who took the plunge last year with their iPad Pro, it's totally worth it.

Nothing beats the convenience of plugging your phone in and seeing the battery number jump after only a few minutes.

A case

Caseology

We recently put together a list of the best iPhone cases for every type of person, but if you're looking for one that'll keep yours protected without adding a lot of bulk, consider this one from Caseology. It has reinforced corners and is made out of a shock-absorbing material to reduce potential damage from drops.

A wireless external battery

Because Apple opted to support the wireless Qi standard for the new iPhones, there's already a whole ecosystem of products you can use. I've recommended external battery packs for years, but this one from Mophie has a wireless charging pad built into it. Of course, you can still plug your phone into its USB ports through a cable, but the big advantage is being able to charge your iPhone on the go without carrying one.
