REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL:
HEARD ABOUT THE GOOD NEWS?
It’s uncertain times. We’ve seen the news stories, the reports, the graphs and everything in-between - we’re truly in the midst of something unprecedented. As the world gets to grips with a new way of life and everything that comes with it, the challenges are there for all to see.

But good always outweighs the bad…

Here at Zeitgeist and Zeitgeist Light, we’ve been compiling some of the amazing initiatives that are shining bright in the face of everything. Whether it’s communities coming together, brands transforming their day-to-day operations or artists using their voice; one thing Covid-19 has done is bring people from all over the world together in the face of adversity, bringing much needed optimism and hope.

As we continue our work with clients and brands who are adapting to a new media landscape and finding their voices within that, here’s just some of the amazing news filling our timelines with cheer. Now more than ever, it’s time to shout loud and proud… so let’s do that together.
Mercedes F1 creating vital breathing aids
Usually seen storming around race tracks across the globe, it’s safe to say Mercedes know a thing or two about being top of the table. Well now, they’re top of the table when it comes to generosity too, turning their services to University College London to help produce special CPAP devices that deliver oxygen to the lungs without needing a ventilator. A development process for new equipment that can take years now takes a matter of days. They’re one of many companies offering their services to produce life-saving equipment, helping us all get towards the chequered flag faster.
Uber + Deliveroo = Free Trips + Meals for NHS workers

On the frontline saving lives and putting themselves in harms way to help others, NHS workers are our true heroes. With that in mind, a range of amazing causes and companies have donated time and goods to make life easier for those workers, with Uber offering free trips and Deliveroo offering over 600,000 free meals too. Good on ya’s!
Love finds a way!

With lockdown ongoing, one thing it might be tricky to do is, well, get married! Plans being scuppered and social distancing now in place, how can the most special day for couples go off now? Well love finds a way, whether it’s communal car-honkings or Zoom-style gatherings - it simply can’t be stopped. What’s that? No, those aren’t tears! There’s just something in our eyes...
Supporting businesses in their hour of need

The impact economically of lockdown on small companies and businesses can be seen every single day. Dramatic loss of incomes and uncertainty of what comes next is everywhere, and Manchester Evening News have stepped in to help those in the Greater Manchester area! Offering free promotional services, video creation, holding pages and consultancy services - they’re well and truly #ThereWithYou
Using your influence to create real support

Chiara Ferragni is one of the biggest influencers in Italy, with over 19 million followers on Instagram. Witnessing the impact the virus was having on Italy, Chiara went to action with a campaign raising money for the intensive care unit at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan. The campaign has so far raised over €4 million, providing new beds and equipment to the hospital and actively saving lives in the process. Using your influence for an amazing cause right here!
Collaborations and music coming together
for an amazing cause

With the ever-shifting world around us, a wealth of creators are getting together and collaborating to produce special projects to help with the current aid effort. One such artist is Zeitgeist’s own Rachel Chinouriri, teaming up with artist Jazz Grant to create a special T-Shirt design with all proceeds going to NHS Charities Together. A simple gesture of creativity and collaboration can go a long way.
An act of kindness, to those making sure you’re stocked up with the essentials
With many locked down indoors and relying on shopping deliveries to survive, the delivery driver is really going above and beyond to make sure the country keeps ticking. Working hard every day to deliver across the world, it’s why some have decided to show their appreciation by leaving out some essentials for drivers to take as they choose. Making sure that those giving out the essentials have some for their own, it’s an act of kindness that shows how appreciated they are.
Breaking Bad…. hygiene edition?

Help can arrive from the unlikeliest of places? Example you ask? Try a monastery in Ukraine which has turned itself into a hand sanitiser factory with monks and clergymen working on a WHO recipe to create sanitiser to ship out across the country. Helping the poorest citizens remain healthy, it shows how by banding together we can help everyone get through this.

Communities around the globe are connecting like never before as we move together into a new world

Let’s catch up… together we can make some noise too!
