Consider the following questions:
1. Could your client's company become an asset that could sell one day?
.... Consider this question carefully. "Of course, it's successful" is your first thought.
However, a business is not automatically like other assets that can be sold, when you want, for what you want.
A business has to be turned into a saleable asset... no matter how successful it is.
2. So maybe the better question for you and your client to reflect on is SHOULD the business be turned into saleable asset that could be sold? Of course then the realization is that it is not 'sell one day', but when the ideal buyer is looking.
3. Which leads to the next question: Looking at all your client's assets that are actually saleable, is there enough wealth accumulation (like enough predictable annual dividends being reinvested in other assets?) and is the client doing the right things to preserve that wealth?
...Remember, you can't automatically put the client's business in their net worth calculation.
So maybe your clients need more assets and differently positioned assets than they currently have.
Then you and your client are ready to explore the answers to this question:
4. Looking at the saleable assets, what tax problems have been created and what tax advantages should be set up before it's too late?
