It is what its owners have dubbed a ‘destination’ cafe, a spot that you’ll be drawn back to time and time again. Fusing the spirit of 1970s Tuscany — think dusty ochre walls, ceilings and bold colour-blocking — with a contemporary edge, Moby 3143’s Instagrammable interiors define the sort of destination it is craving to be.

Windsor-based design practice, Golden, collaborated with graphics studio Can I Play and building team Bear Projects to create an alluring space that was led by its original ’70s shell; the building’s corner façade and iconic curvature transformed into an all-day dining venue, split into key zones that have been highlighted by contrasting rustic tones and minimal bold joinery.

Celebrating the fare on offer, the food counter takes centre place, chef Stephen Svenson keen to ensure a transparent link between the café and kitchen. From cosy indoor dining to an alfresco meal on the rooftop terrace, locals and visitors alike can tuck into old classics with a modern twist; healthy salads and plates oozing decadence and created with love. An informed drinks menu of infused teas, velvety coffee and cocktails on hand to ensure Melbourne’s famously savvy café culture fanatics keep returning to their new favourite destination.
