Best Buy Co. has leased a 106,874-square-foot building in Islandia to accommodate its expanding e-commerce business.

The consumer electronics retailer will use the building on 5.87 acres at 40 Enter Lane for its last-mile logistics and warehousing and distribution operations.

Best Buy realized a record-breaking $2.8 billion in U.S. e-commerce sales during the last holiday season and had a fifth straight quarter where the retailer’s domestic online earnings exceeded $1 billion, according to published reports. The chain’s web sales surpassed $6 billion for the company’s 2018 fiscal year ended Feb. 3.

The Islandia building was last occupied by carpet and flooring company Empire Today.

Gary Joel Schacker, SIOR, of United Realty represented the tenant, while landlord Sixpad Realty was self-represented in the Islandia lease transaction.
