Great Listen

Dirty Deeds was a neat listen. I usually stick to Syi-Fi, but the price was better than the cost of a credit and I decided to check it out.

Story:
Like I said, I usually gravitate toward sci-fi, but the concept of this story intrigued me, so I gave it a shot. It is hard for me to classify this. Murder Mystery? Abstract Hero? Can’t really say. The premise of an assassin who specializes in killing children for the rich is very new. The idea that he never actually kills them but makes them “disappear” was very cool. You learn later he has a reason why he does it the way he does and it makes since. It is hard to go into detail without spoiling the story, so I won’t do that. If I had one gripe it would be the cliffhanger at the end. That is not saying that it wasn’t a complete story, it was. But at the very end, you are basically told stuff is going down and there will be another book. Excited to hear more and hope the Author continues with this series.

Narrator:
I am ALWAYS critical of narrators. That isn’t really fair because I would never take a chance to narrate one of my works, but Jack de Golia was on point. He did what narrators should do. Changed his speed when necessary to show excitement or down times, changed his voice just enough so that you could tell who was talking regardless of the ‘he said/she said’ text, and the recording itself was professional and solid.

Over all, great listen and I highly recommend!

Very very good

I found listening to this book very enjoyable as it is a very very good book. It has a lot of action, suspense and some humor. I am hoping there will be a second book as there is a cliffhanger at the end.

Original

I received a free copy of Dirty Deeds book 1 By Armand Rosamilia , and narrated by Jack de Golia in exchange for an unbiased review. This review copy Audio Book was provided by the author/narrator/publisher free of charge via Audio Book Boom.

I found Dirty Deeds book 1 an enjoyable listen. I won't listen to any story that a child is harmed. This book caught my attention because the so called hit man pretended to kill his victims, but then rescued them. The characters are quirky, and so much fun. The story is unique and quite entertaining. Jack de Golia does an awesome job narrating, and keeping your attention. I'm looking forward to volume 2.

Dirty Deeds

The story was good despite my expectations. The people around Gaffney seem to get more character attention then Gaffney himself, especially Keane. Reggie Keane’s progression in the story feels like an actual character progression where as the other characters seem stagnant. Armand keeps you guessing in the book. It is one of the better points of the story. The narrator is clear and consistent with his reading. All of the audio sounded good. It is very much a first in a series kind of book. Not much transpires (introductions, start of the main conflict, and a bit of twist and turns.). It does not have a story conclusion, nicely wrapped up. The story ends up on a cliffhanger, a pretty good one at that.

entertaining

it was an interesting job choice, I can't see how he would have so many clients. and I don't know that I could let these monsters live, but I suppose nobody would hire him if he has a reputation for losing/killing the parents. I loved the book and the mess he found himself in. the narration was great and I would be interested in more books in this series.

Strong Characters, Good Dialog - Exciting

Dirty Deeds by Armand Rosamilia and narrated by Jack de Golia is a well-crafted book. It keeps the listener’s interest with fully developed characters with a unique plot. Most listeners will be hooked from the first few lines and want to go on this adventure with James Gaffney to see what happens next.

The main character is a James Gaffney; a man who will take care of your problems for you. If you have a mistress and have a kid with her and you don’t want to pay child support he will make the kid disappear. That’s right he is paid large sums of money to kill kids to solve people’s problems. But he has a secret, using a one-way network he will take the kid and get him to a loving family who will raise him. Nothing’s ever as easy as it sounds. There is also an FBI Agent Keen who has been chasing him for years.

Running his sports card memorabilia side business James spends most of trying to appear above-board with the help of his long-suffering assistant Marissa. His assistant Marissa handles his day-to-day activities, online activity, and keeping Mr. Gaffney afloat in this technological age. James is what Marissa calls a dinosaur when it comes to anything electronic. All is well until one of his early cases, the son of one of a New Jersey Mob Boss Chenzo appears to have come back ‘from the dead’ and to the attention of the FBI.

This story does a great job of holding the listener’s attention with the great cast of characters. The plot moves at a good pace, and the dialogue is really great between these interesting characters. At times you don’t know if you should love or hate some of the characters with that changing as the chapters advance as the story evolves. The author had crafted a fun world. It a great place to get lost for an afternoon.

The narration is provided by Jack de Golia. Mr. de Golia does a stellar job narrating this audiobook. This is the fourth time I have heard a performance from Mr. de Golia and he always delivers an outstanding performance. The characters are diverse and each unique in this audiobook. The production value is of a high quality. The book was clear and crisp through the entire program.
