HR Management - The First Step in Taking Over the World

(Ok, ok... Not the world, but the market for sure.)

I have a great team. Not just good, but simply amazing.

It wasn’t easy to assemble it, but somehow we did it. If only back then we had access to our Teodesk Employee Module, it would have made things so much easier. But we didn’t and that’s ok. You know why? Because we used this experience of the close-to-impossible quest for “The Holy Grail of Business” – to create and further improve our SaaS feature.

At first, it was just to help us with our own inhouse HR management. But in time, we realized that this was a valuable tool that could be helpful to many people.

Let’s cut to the chase. The sole purpose of HR is to ensure that the organization is able to achieve success through people. Mighty important, I would say. Yet in many workplaces, a debate about the importance of Human Resources Management is still going on.

A solid HR department is imperative for any organization that aims to be productive and employee-oriented, and in effect - successful. When staff members are energized and engaged, the possibility of building up an organizational culture is much higher, as HR Management is monitoring and nurturing it. Some even go as far as to say that HR creates and owns the culture. I would agree. If effective, HR can contribute greatly to the overall company direction and accomplishment of its goals and objectives.

Nowadays successful companies need to be adaptive, resilient, quick to change direction and customer-centered. This alone explains the need for the HR department, which is responsible for the overall recruiting of a superior workforce. Aside from recruiting, HR department is the one in charge of determining the salary ranges within the organization by developing an overall strategic plan with realistic compensation structures and making sure that company wages remain competitive with other businesses in the area and with the global market. Human Resources conduct extensive wage and salary surveys in order to maintain the expenses in line with the organization's current financial status and projected revenue.

For an organization to have the staff to manage, HR is like a Lagotto Romagnolo for truffles. And we know how precious truffles are and how difficult they are to find.

The HR Department determines the most effective methods in applicant recruitment, and decides which applicant tracking systems are best suited for the organization's needs. However, once the applicant becomes an employee, their work doesn’t end. Some may say that it only just begins.

Human Resources team needs to create and follow a certain set of protocols in order to pick the correct candidate for a fixed task/project. Many factors come into play when it comes to such a delicate assignment. And I am not talking about the “education and skills” list. In the process of developing Teodesk Employee Module, we discovered that this is a way more complex issue, and the one that can be successfully addressed with a little help from tools powered by Artificial Intelligence.

They say that “The Rise of the Machines” is ahead, that future will be drastically changed by robotics as robots will soon perform most of the work, in all industries. As much as I hear about this phenomena and - in my small way - even participate in its conception, I do not agree that robots or any form of artificial or intuitive intelligence and people exclude one another. If I learned anything while developing the Teodesk app, it is that men need a little help and support from science and its devices.

As the Human Resources Management improves the way of how human capital affects organizational success, I believe it is important that HR strategic management participates in corporate decision-making.

After all, the success of any project starts with the assembling of a perfect team. Wouldn’t you agree?

The biggest challenge is on educating the teams to use the application/module/software. I have witnessed many modules not being used either by the HR teams or the users. For example helpdesk, many senior employees who have direct access to the HR team wants to get the work done either by a phone call, messaging or a visit to the department. This might vary for Companies however it defeats the purpose. Having data in a systems definately helps the organisation. Human touch in every activity is good but not at the cost of ignoring the application which can serve the purpose. HR management tool is very helpful in reducing the time spent on routine work and focus on building culture, employee development and engagement programs. With your to we can record everything. A quick look at your presentation/ write up on the tool is convincingly great, good luck!

I am an HR Manager in the Army.  Fairly recently I was the head HR Manager during a digital exercise and it upset me that the senior leaders didn't seem to care about the reported personnel strength numbers.  They were more concerned about the equipment.  The last time I checked, Tanks, Helicopters, Infantry fighting vehicles...all need people to make the equipment work.  I am saying this because if falls in line with kind of what you were saying and that is people  don't seem to grasp how important HR is.  We are the lifeline of ANY organization because personnel are more most important asset.  I have noticed that there is a lot of HR programs out there that do different things.  Is there an all encompassing one that I can introduce to what ever company may hire me when get out of the Army in the very near future?

Assembling the perfect team is much easier said than done. If you have a tool that provides insight into different aspects of HR, and makes the applicant selection process easier, I'd love to try it.
