Daydreaming of the fluffy white stuff? Believe it or not, there are just over 100 days till opening day (fingers crossed) in Park City. If you haven't locked in that season pass, now is the time to start shopping around for the best deal. Here's the latest scoop on the passes for local resorts, Park City Mountain and Deer Valley.

Park City Mountain Epic Pass

The most important date for those of you spending winter at Park City Mountain is Labor Day, Sept. 3. It is the last day the lowest price on the Epic Pass is guaranteed. For complete, unrestricted access to Park City Mountain, plus 65 other resorts, opt for the full Epic Pass ($899 for ages 13+, $46o for ages 5-12).  For those planning on staying close to home during the winter, the more economical Epic Local Pass ($669 ages 19+, $549 ages 13-18, $359 ages 5-12) includes many of the same benefits, but comes with the following blackout dates at Park City Mountain: 11/23 - 11/24/18, 12/26 - 12/31/18, 01/19/19, 2/16 - 2/17/19.

Several improvements will be making their debut this year at Park City Mountain, including a new beginner learning area at High Meadow Park, a revamp of the historic Mid-Mountain Lodge interior, 200 additional seats at Cloud Dine, and new snowmaking equipment. Continuing the trend of resort consolidation, parent company Vail added 20 new resorts to the Epic Pass for the upcoming season (19 with unlimited, unrestricted access for Epic Pass holders and limited access to the remaining 46), including far flung destinations in Japan, Australia, and Europe. 

Specials available to Utah residents only include the family-friendly $399 Epic 4 Day Pass and Epic SchoolKids. The deadline for enrollment into the Epic SchoolKids program is Oct. 7. Through the program, Utah kids in kindergarten through fifth grade can receive five free days of skiing and riding at Park City Mountain. For those who have never skied or snowboarded before, a first timer lesson (including equipment) is part of the deal. The Epic 4 Day pass is a mini-version of the Epic Pass and a good option for parents who want to get on the mountain with kids enrolled in the Epic SchoolKids program.

Deer Valley Season Passes & Ikon Pass

Skiers at Deer Valley have an extra month to lock down their winter plans as the best deals on season passes at the skiers-only resort are available through Oct. 15. There are a slew of different options based on age. Pricing for full season passes are: $2,359 for Adult One (ages 18-64), $1,950 for the spouse of Adult One (or senior), $1,000 for Teens (ages 13-17), $600 for Children (ages 5-12), $1,205 for Seniors (ages 65-71), $1,100 for Super-Seniors (age 72+), $1,480 for College Students, and $1,235 for Military. Midweek ($1,235) and Tot ($160) passes are also available, but do not qualify for the same benefits as full season passes.

While the Deer Valley season passes are considerably more expensive than the Epic Pass, the perks have become more tempting than ever before with Deer Valley's induction into the Alterra Mountain Company and Ikon Pass family. In addition to sweet extras like the Wasatch Benefit Program (two complimentary day tickets at Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, and Solitude) and a 20% dining discount at select Deer Valley restaurants, Deer Valley Full Season Pass holders will also receive a complimentary Ikon Base Pass. Currently priced at $699, the Ikon Base Pass offers unlimited access to 10 resorts, including Mammoth Mountain, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, and Winter Park Resort, among others, and 5 days at 16 others destinations, including Jackson Hole, Big Sky, and Steamboat (full list here). 

Over the next decade, Deer Vally will be making a number of improvements, including $8.1 million of enhancements for the upcoming season, including a new, detachable, high-speed quad will replace the old Homestake chairlift (access from Silver Lake Village to Bald Eagle Mountain), increasing its uphill capacity to 400 skiers per hour. Also in the works are snowmaking system enhancements, additional Snowcats for grooming, replacing old rental equipment with the latest goods from Rossignol, as well as facility and equipment upgrades to resort day lodges, laundry facility, recycling center, and IT. 

Season passes for other Utah resorts, including our neighbors in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon are also on sale. Pray for snow!
