Perhaps the biggest science news in 2017 is total solar eclipse that will be visible across North America on Monday August 21. To commemorate this event, Volvo has created the world’s 1st Panoramic Moonroof Eclipse Viewer!

Unfortunately, the XC60 Panoramic Moonroof Eclipse Viewer will have limited availability and priority will go to Oregon, Idaho, Nebraska, Missouri and South Carolina because they’re in the eclipse’s path of totality. We also know that people in NJ & NY alike who don’t own the 2018 Volvo XC60 are going to want to see solar eclipse 2017.
But you can still see it! We know that our team is excited to take view the eclipse, so here are some tips to know how to best see this once-in-a-lifetime event.
1. Know When to Watch
The important part of knowing when to see the eclipse is to learn when it’ll be visible. For New Jersey (and the accompanying metro NYC area), the total solar eclipse will begin at 1:22 pm. Maximum obscuration, which means that about 75% of the sun will be covered in our area, will be at 2:45 pm. The eclipse will end around 4 pm.
2. Protect Your Eyes
Looking at the sun is dangerous, even when it’s been covered partially by the moon. And even if you have regular sunglasses on. The right pair of glasses will be compliant with the ISO 12312-2 safety standard since those have the appropriate solar filters to let you look as long as you want. 3. View It Online
We know that seeing the total solar eclipse live is the best way to do it, we just can’t travel to Oregon, Idaho, Nebraska, Missouri or South Carolina on a whim with our work and life schedules.
