9-year-old may face criminal charges for fires

CROSBY-A 9-year-old boy may face felony criminal charges after allegedly lighting two Crosby businesses on fire.

Both fires were minor and no one was hurt.

The Crosby Police Department is investigating the fires-one on Aug. 5 at Mel's Mercantile and the second on Friday, Aug. 10, at Family Dollar, both on West Main Street in Crosby. The estimated property damage for both businesses combined is $600.

The juvenile male was located after the fire Friday and police believe he is responsible for both fires.

A report was started and investigation is continuing into the matter, Crosby police reported.
