Introducing ZenFone 4/Pro/Selfie/Selfie Pro/Max/Max Pro

ASUS on Thursday announced during a media event held in Taipei, Taiwan, not one, not four, but six new ZenFone 4 smartphone models powered by Google's Android mobile operating system.

We reported a few days ago that ASUS accidentally leaked four of the company's ZenFone 4 models on its French website, including a variant of the ZenFone 4 Max smartphone, which ASUS unveiled in Russia last month. The leak gave us an insight of some of the features and hardware components of these devices.

Today, ASUS introduced its new ZenFone 4 series containing six models, the ZenFone 4, ZenFone 4 Pro, ZenFone 4 Selfie, ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, ZenFone 4 Max, and ZenFone 4 Max Pro. All of them run Google's latest Android 7 Nougat mobile operating system and have various technical specs that you can find in the next paragraphs.

Technical specs and prices of the ZenFone 4 family

We'll start with the cheapest of them all, the ZenFone 4 Max, which features a 5.2-inch display with 720x1280 resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 Quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, an Adreno 308 GPU, 3 GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, dual camera (13 MP + 5 MP) on the back, and a 4,100mAh battery.

The ASUS Zenfone 4 Max Pro model has a bigger, 5.5-inch display, but also offering a 720x1280 resolution. It appears that the device comes with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 or 430 processor, an Adreno 308 or Adreno 505 GPU, as well as 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM. There's a much better dual camera (16 MP (f/2.0) + 16MP) on the back, and it has a bigger, non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery.

The star of the ZenFone 4 series are ZenFone 4 Selfie and ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, both having a 5.5-inch display, but ZenFone 4 Selfie has an IPS LCD 720p screen and ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro an AMOLED 1080p one. While ZenFone 4 Selfie is powered by a Snapdragon 430 processor, ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro sports a mode powerful Snapdragon 625 chipset. Apparently, both models come with 4GB of RAM.

Being designed for selfie fans, the ZenFone 4 Selfie and ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro have dual camera systems on the front (20MP + 8MP for ZenFone 4 Selfie, and 24MP + 5MP for ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro) with LED flash. On the back, both models feature a 16 MP camera with autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash. A non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery is available on the ZenFone 4 Selfie variants.

Finally, the ZenFone 4 and ZenFone 4 Pro are the most powerful models ASUS unveiled today, featuring 5.5-inch AMOLED 1080p displays, using Snapdragon 630 and 835 processor, 4 GB or 6GB of RAM, and 64GB or 128GB internal storage, and non-removable 3,300 mAh or 3,600 mAh Li-Ion batteries.

As for the price, ZenFone 4 Pro costs $599 (€510), ZenFone 4 $399 (€340), ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro $379 (€322), ZenFone 4 Selfie $279 (€237), ZenFone 4 Max Pro $295 (€250), and ZenFone 4 Max $235 (€200). All models will be first launched in Asia, and should debut in other parts of the world in the months to come. More details should be available on the official ASUS websites in different countries.
