Triceps Tendon Ruptures

Triceps Tendon Ruptures are rare and usually occur in people who have had previous injury or inflammation of the tendon or bursae where it connects to the ulna at the back of the elbow. Caused by an overload of the tendon, of forceful extension against an immobile object or person, which may occur in football and weightlifting. Ruptures are marked by sudden pain and difficulty or inability to extend the elbow.

While conservative treatment including rest, immobilization, anti-inflammatories and physical therapy is indicated for mild cases, Triceps Tendon Ruptures normally demand surgical treatment due to severe weakness and difficulty in straightening the elbow.
