It's been a little while since I emailed you all an update about Woodside - that's because I've been so busy placing orders, unpacking and pricing incoming deliveries and sowing seeds, for this the beginning of our busiest time of year.

We've so many new and exciting plants, it's difficult to know where to start!
We have extended our plant offering this year to include a NEW range of Pond Plants, in response to numerous customer requests. We now stock a good range of waterlilies, marginals, oxygenators and moisture loving plants for the pond and bog garden. Theses can all be found within our polytunnel  area and we are happy to offer advice to help you with your purchases.
Also in the polytunnel area we have a large range of Vegetable Plants ready for planting out now. Our selection includes various lettuces and cabbage, broccoli, kale, leeks, broad beans, peas, endive, and more, with new additions becoming available all the time as our seedlings grow!
We also have some stock of the famous Kelsae Onion available in packs of 12 at £6 per pack. Tomatoes and pepper plants will be in stock soon - I'm just waiting for the nights to warm up a bit first as it is too cold at the moment. Hopefully by next weekend we'll have them available. Courgettes, cucumbers and runner bean plants will follow as the risk of frost reduces.
If you enjoy growing your own edible plants, you'll also be pleased to know that our Herb Plants are now ready, most of which are hardened off and ready to plant outside (the tarragon and lemon verbena need frost protection) and we also have a good selection of Strawberry Plants.

Look out too for our NEW range of "Small Plants for Small Spaces" which is a choice of over 30 varieties of hardy plants suitable for containers, rockeries or small beds and borders. They are on a special offer of 4 for £10, giving excellent choice and value for money.

We also now have ready the first batch of Wildflower Plants suitable for designated wildflower gardens or just to dot in amongst your other plants in beds and borders. Many of these are rich food sources for birds and insects. This Sunday we are hosting (with the Woodside Garden for Wildlife and Wellbeing) a talk on bee-keeping at 2pm, so do come along and join us for that.

Last week I went up to a trade nursery just outside Glasgow that I had not visited before, and later on today (all being well) we should receive the plants that I ordered then. There are one or two "gems" arriving including Kirengeshoma palmatum, Veronicastrum virginicum album (which I have being trying to get hold of for ages as it's such a good plants for bees, but really difficult to find!),  Corylopsis pauciflora (a lovely late winter/spring flowering shrub), Epimediums, the native Arum italicum, Smilacina racemosa and Podophyllum Spotty Dotty. If the names mean nothing to you - don't worry, just come along this weekend and have a look!

We also have a great choice of pots and compost, including the full range of Wool Compost from Dalefoot Composts, Cumbia, and next week we will be getting their brand NEW Wool Compost for Tomatoes. With a great choice of flower and vegetable seeds, wild birdfood and seed potatoes, Woodside is the place to visit for choice, service and location.

Here's to a busy weekend of gardening,
Emma

Kirengeshoma palmata is a lovely plant for a shady, moisture retentive border
Veronicastrum virginicum album needs a sunny spot for it's spires of white flowers to attract bees
