I updated my ebook on media interviews with a new cover, a designed checklist suitable for sticking on a corkboard, and a few other tweaks. It's available on a pay-what-you-like basis through Gumroad. (Twitter / Facebook)

I interviewed Randy Olson, the author of Houston: We Have a Narrative, for Sigma Xi's Keyed In blog. As a scientist-turned filmmaker, he has a critical eye for a lot of the work we do in our community. In particular, he asked why we keep referring to what we do as "science communication." It's still just communication after all. And while we might have a thankfully lower tolerance for inaccuracy in our field, the same rules of what sticks with an audience apply to us, too. Lots of other neat stuff!
- Paige Jarreau has a cool, crowdfunded project looking at how scientists can use Instagram to humanize their work. Please check it out and consider supporting.
- I did a webinar on narrative in science communication with Spacetime Labs. Very cool to meet Jenn Maer and Sara ElShafie.
- I'm volunteering with two voting rights organizations - the Democracy Initiative and the Franchise Project. Excited to take on more work in this space. We all have to do our part to make our democracy work for everyone.
- I've just about completed an online course on digital marketing and highly recommend it. This is exactly the sort of stuff we all need to stay fresh on to succeed. And as the technology keeps evolving, we have to keep experimenting to figure out what works with our audiences. We're all publishers now and there are no more cookie-cutter answers.
