Police To Crack Down On Drunk Driving For July 4th Weekend
During the no-refusal initiative search warrants will be obtained to require that all suspected drunk drivers give blood samples.
DALLAS, TX — Police in Dallas will crack down on drunk driving during the July 4th holiday weekend and beyond by enforcing a no-refusal initiative for suspected drunk drivers.
The no-refusal period changes the way that police handle traffic stops of suspected drunk drivers. Instead of field sobriety tests, police will subject every person arrested for drinking and driving to a blood test. Police officers will also seek search warrants for drivers who to give a breath or blood sample.
The no refusal period will begin June 18 at 6 p.m. and continue until July 15 at 12 a.m.
