Jihad Watch has frequently addressed concerns about Pope Francis and his efforts to ally with unsavory Islamic leaders and push for more Muslim migrants in the West. It is fortunate that not all Catholic leaders see eye to eye with the Pope.
For example, Cardinal Robert Sarah — prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments — compared “the modern influx of Muslim migrants to the invasions of barbarian tribes that ultimately brought down the Roman Empire in a.d. 475.” Sarah also issued a warning which contradicts the Pope. He cautioned that “it is a false exegesis [interpretation of scriptural text] to use the Word of God to promote migration. God never wanted these rifts.” But this is precisely what Pope Francis has been doing: acting as a blind guide in preaching that it is un-Christian to oppose mass Muslim migration into Europe. Meanwhile, the Vatican remains walled up, and the Pope remains surrounded by security.
A prominent Italian intellectual has now kicked criticism of the Pope up a notch regarding his views about mass Muslim migration and much more. Marcello Pera, a non-believer and a “philosopher of science, former president of the Italian Senate, and close friend of Pope Benedict XVI,” asserted that the Pope “hates the West, he aspires to destroy it. … as he aspires to destroy the Christian tradition.”
Given the globalist views of the Pope and his Islamic supremacist associates (which prompted Robert Spencer to refer to him as The Grand Sheikh Francis of al-Vatican), as well as his push for more Muslim migration, Pera makes a compelling case.
“Time for Pope Francis and the Vatican to wake up about Islam,” by William Kilpatrick, Lifesite News, January 7, 2020:
January 7, 2019 (The Catholic Thing) — In comments last year, Marcello Pera, a prominent Italian intellectual and non-believer, criticized Pope Francis for “openly going against tradition, doctrine, and introducing inexplicable innovations, behaviors and gestures.”
A philosopher of science, former president of the Italian Senate, and close friend of Pope Benedict XVI, Pera asserted that Francis had turned Catholicism into “a Church so outgoing that it can no longer be found anywhere.”
In an earlier 2017 interview with Il Mattino, Pera was even more outspoken. In answer to a question about “indiscriminate” welcoming of migrants to Europe, he replied: “Frankly, I do not get this pope, whatever he says is beyond any rational understanding. It’s evident to all that an indiscriminate welcoming is not possible: there is a critical point that can’t be reached.”
He continued: “If the pope … insists in a massive and total welcoming, I ask myself: why does he say it? … Why does he lack a minimum of realism, that very little that is requested of anyone? The answer I can give myself is only one: The Pope does it because he hates the West, he aspires to destroy it. … As he aspires to destroy the Christian tradition.”
Two years ago, most Catholics would have found that hard to swallow. But now, the idea that Pope Francis hates the West is beginning to seem plausible. It would explain much of what he says and does — his criticism of capitalism and colonialism, Amazonian initiative and, above all, encouragement of mass Muslim migration into Europe.
Does he also aspire to destroy the Christian tradition? Well, he rarely misses an opportunity to criticize traditional Catholics. At the same time, he seems intent on introducing exotic and decidedly non-traditional practices into the life of the Church.
The key word, of course, is “aspires.” Does Francis consciously desire to “destroy” the West and traditional Christianity (aka Christianity)? Or is he simply a well-intentioned do-gooder who doesn’t understand the consequences of his experiments?
That’s a serious question, but it’s unnecessary to know the answer in order to raise a related question: Whatever the intention, do his policies and programs actually tend toward the destruction of the West and of Christianity?
I would say, “Yes, they do.” And I would argue, as Professor Pera does, that they “lack a minimum of realism.” Future historians may well look back upon our era as the Age of Unreality. And many in the Church have embraced this unreality as though it were a newly revealed Gospel.
Some Church leaders have been flirting with the idea of same-sex marriage, and some seem willing to believe that females can transition to males and males to females. Others, including the pope himself, seem to believe in the fantasy idea that the lot of the poor can be improved by getting rid of fossil-fuels — which may be the reason that they have also revived the fantasy of the Noble Savage. Because, minus the benefits of electric power, much of the world will be quickly reduced to a primitive level. In which case, we may all find ourselves praying to Pachamama and the rain gods for a good harvest.
The most dangerous fantasy, however, is the one that Church leaders have created about Islam. We are told that it’s a religion of peace, that it shares much common ground with Christianity, that Muslims venerate Jesus just as Catholics do, that terrorism has nothing to do with Islam, and that the slaughter of Christians by Muslims can be attributed to a tiny minority who “misunderstand” their religion.
At the same time, we are taught that “Islamophobia” — an irrational fear of Islam — is a far greater danger than Islamic aggression.
Pera’s point is that these supposedly “irrational” fears are actually quite reasonable. He is mainly concerned with the fantasy that Europe can successfully absorb millions of Muslim migrants who don’t want to assimilate….

I think that hand slapping incident tells us quite a bit about this Pope. I can see a look of pain on the Pope’s face when the woman grabs him so I think the jerking motion hurt his shoulder. I can understand being upset about that but I can’t understand the harshness he showed the woman by slapping her. I’m not sure of what he said to her but it does not seem to have been any kind of explanation about how she had hurt him. The angry expression on his face says it all for me. His talk about always having love in your heart seems to be just talk. Here he let his mask drop. At least he did publicly apologize for his actions at a later public appearance.
The lesson I take from this is that, yes, people don’t like being jerked around but striking back violently is not helpful. I wonder if this Pope realizes that he has been jerking us Catholics around every since he took office … but at least nobody has slapped him down because that would be wrong. Maybe he needs to dialogue with somebody besides just Muslims.

The vatican PR has plenty of pictures of francis kissing babies, hugging nuns, always smiling and giving his famous thumbs up :perhaps most catholics can’t see beyond the outer surface, but there are a minority of Senior catholic clergymen and faithful catholics who see something very wrong with this papacy.Yet it should come as no surprise as that’s what pope Paul VI was talking about in 1971 when he startled the world by saying “the smoke of satan” had entered the RCC.
You might discern that while he tries hard to look like a lamb,he speaks like a dragon:he constantly disparages Christianity.
Much of what constituted authentic Catholicism was destroyed by the error of vatican 2.
It isn’t the faith itself:it is the men who run the church who did this, not catholics themselves.

With you here, Terry. But, sadly, what you and I think is necessary is not very likely in the cards (excuse the gambling metaphor). All I can really see is an even further descent of the Roman Catholic faith. And ponder for a moment how many bishops and cardinals Francis has already appointed and who think as he does and who will long outlive this wretched excuse for a pontifex maximus.
Just as the Democratic Party of the USA and the Labour Party of the UK have destroyed themselves from within, so I would contend that the RC faith has been “active” in the same “endeavor.”
Well, the ancient Egyptian religion lasted some 3,000 years. As of present, the RC Church has lasted about 2/3rds as long. Looks however, as of now, it will not “beat” the ancient Egyptian faith respecting duration.
Oh yes, I know if one is a devout Catholic one cannot accept this (and would bet a lot of those who “bought into” the ancient Egyptian religion over ancient Egypt’s some 33 dynasties thought the same thing). Indeed, I am somewhat sympathetic here. But, being the eternally invincibly ignorant agnostic that I am, I am “reduced” to “merely” calculating the odds.

Wellington says
Very much agree, FYI. As I have many times argued here at JW, Vatican II was a disaster called by a very nice but nonetheless very foolish man, Pope John XXIII (who was followed by Paul VI, who was nothing more than an efficient bureaucrat putting an official stamp upon the initial error).
Angelo Roncalli (John XXIII) did just about the stupidest thing a person can do, i.e., he tried to fix something that wasn’t broken. Seen from an historical perspective, I think it quite arguable that John XXIII has proven to be far more damaging to the Roman Catholic faith than even the destructive fool who now sits upon the throne of Saint Peter has been.
Here’s why: Pope Francis I is merely a symptom of an ecclesiastical cancer. But said cancer was completely avoidable in the first place (rather like desisting from smoking a pack of cigarettes a day) and said cancer, by way of massive ignorance and good intentions rooted in monumental error, was initiated by John XXIII.
If a study of history teaches anything it teaches that kind fools with power can do far more damage than the viruses that follow them. As another example, look to Czar Nicholas II, the last Czar of Russia, for instruction on this point and who was also a kind fool—and just consider what followed.

I’m so glad to see that more and more people are calling out the rubbish that this Pope goes on with, at least on Islam’s nature, as dangerous rubbish. It often seems that many people on the left, including this Pope, create a fantasyland view of the way the world should be, the way they would like it to be, and then they rigidly believe and insist that that fantasy of how they think the world should be, is actually the way things really are in the world. As the writer of the article above says, it’s an Age of Unreality for many people, and many people seem to “lack a minimum of realism”. On Islam (a religion of peace!!!) the Pope is one of these fools, totally out of touch with reality. The fantasy they believe in endangers all of us non-Muslims because it says that bringing large numbers of barbaric Muslims into our countries is not a problem and will not have terrible consequences for our quality of life.

It certainly is fortunate that not all Catholic leaders see eye to eye with the Pope. Cardinal Robert Sarah is right, the modern influx of Muslim immigrants to the West can be compared to “the invasions of the barbarian tribes that ultimately brought down the Roman Empire in a.d. 475”. Surely the Pope must understand his own early history? Or is he simply in denial of what happened and why?
The nonsense about ‘strength in diversity’, is pure Marxist propaganda designed to ‘divide and conquer’. Does the Pope subscribe to these far- left ideas? Does he, as Marcello Pera asserts, “hate the West [and] aspire to destroy it. … as he aspires to destroy the Christian tradition”? Robert Spencer’s reference to the Pope as, “The Grand Sheikh Francis of al-Vatican” is so apt.
There is no doubt that immigration can be good for a country. Most immigrants simply want to make a better life for themselves and their families. But indiscriminate immigration can be disastrous, particularly from Islamic countries where the Quran and their other holy scriptures command Muslims to hate the very people who are offering them shelter and opportunities. (Quran 3:28, 5:10-15, 5:51, 33:57, 35:39, 40:10, 48:6, 48:29, 60:4, 98:6). So naturally, most Muslims refuse to integrate into their host countries.
Why does the Pope think all those massive stone walls around the Vatican were built by his predecessors? They were built to stop the ‘Barbary Pirates’ and ‘Saracens’ (Muslim jihadis) who pillaged and plundered the cities around the Mediterranean for centuries, for booty and slaves. Does the Pope imagine that the Muslim mindset and agenda has changed one iota from the days of Muhammad?
What does Francis think is meant by the old Muslim dictum, “First the Saturday people, then the Sunday people”? There’s one thing for sure, it doesn’t just mean that the Muslims want to visit their Jewish and Christian neighbors on the week- end.
Wake up Francis! Muslims are commanded to hate and detest all Non-Muslims, and subjugate their religions and cultures – and that includes you and your Church!
Wellington says
+1, Aussie Infidel, though I must add that Francis will never wake up. He will go to his grave in terminal ignorance mode.

Thanks to OzInf and Wellington for their highly intelligent comments. I chose to hope that people can be swayed by facts. I don’t know what it will take to change the view of Frances of a sugar-coated, benign Islam, but I believe there is an argument that can reach almost everyone … if only to have them consider the possibility of being wrong.
The problem here, of course, is the INFALLIBLE AURA of the papacy. RCs will admit that the pope is not INTELLECTUALLY AUTHORITATIVE on all topics, but in practice they are allowing the pope to APPEAL TO THE PRESTIGE OF HIS OFFICE so that he gets away with mind-numbing errors about the INTENT and ACTUAL TEACHINGS of Islam.
I call this pope … ‘POPE GUIDO SARDUCCI’ … a simplistic, somewhat Leftist stoner. It’s clear that the pope’s main drug is GLOBALISM.

Kepha says
As a Protestant, Uncle Kepha holds no candle for any post-7th century Pope, especially Pope Frankie. Yet I’m extremely saddened by this report of Marcello Pero’s taking him to task for abetting the decline of the West and destruction of Christianity. Pero identifies as an unbeliever, and, presumably, at least at one point in his life saluted Voltaire/s cry of “Ecrassez L’Infame!” and/or the Marxian characterization of Christianity as a “rotting corpse”.
I’ve also seen recently something by Richard Dawkins lamenting the de-Christianization of society–perhaps not least because he, like Marcello Pero, sees Islam as replacing Christianity, and in spite of all the dishonest and willfully blind pseudo-scholarship that has touted Islam as “tolerant” and “peaceful”, realizes that it is anything but.
As long as they refuse to take seriously the claims of Jesus Christ on their lives, men like Dawkins and Pero remain part of the problem rather than part of the solution; and Pero’s discomfiting Pope Frankie is the case of someone trying to remove a speck from his neighbor’s eye while ignoring the beam in his own (Mt. 7:3). Just as the Israelites of Hosea’s time ascribed the good gifts of YHWH to the Ba’alim (Hos. 2:* ff.), so have Christianity’s Western cultured despisers ascribed the good gifts they have received to their idols of self, enlightenment, progress, historical necessity, whiteness, creativity, etc. This, far more than any timid old man in a robe who is afraid of offending the least SJW sophomore, is what has torn down the West and softened it up for conquest by a rival civilization that has created little besides slums surrounded by deserts and unbridled political tyranny when left to its own devices.
Drs. Dawkins and Pero, for the sake of all that you have belatedly come to realize as dear, blow the dust off your Bibles! The dust on your Bibles is probably thick enough to write “damnation” with your finger; and maybe, just maybe, the Holy Spirit has granted you a premonition thereof, and would chase you away from it. Reconsider the claims of Jesus the Messiah, who is God Incarnate. Then, perhaps, you might speak constructively to the Pope, and other treasonous Christian clerics.

Jay says
Who has murdered more of the saints than Roman Catholicism?
They chain the scriptures to the altar and use another language just in case to keep the people from reading the Bible. The priest sleeps with the new brides the first night after the wedding if he hasn’t already and except when he’s sodomizing young altar boys. And in case anyone gets enough education to read the scriptures and use them to project the truth, Roman Catholicism tells the people that they are not qualified to understand the Bible. Tyndale successfully translated the scriptures so that everyone could read them and the Catholics burned him at the stake. Had Martin Luther not had friends, the Catholics would have burned him at the stake too. And as if all that wasn’t enough, Catholics pray to Mary for intercession to God The Father instead of praying to Jesus The Son of God as the Bible commands.
gravenimage says
This is not Catholicism Watch–and the assertion that priests raped new brides is utter claptrap. (This is a reference to “Droit du seigneur”, which was claimed by some thuggish feudal lords. This was *never* practiced by the Catholic Church as Jay falsely says).
And the Catholic Church defended against Islam for centuries, Jay would not be free today were this not so.
Jay says
No need to argue over priests sodomizing young boys. Just watch the news. Often it makes front page.

Again, I hold no candle for the Pope. But our school systems are also rife with sexual abuse systems. So are summer camps. So is scouting.
The problem is that we’ve de-Christianized; and to the trio of science, self, and state worshiped by the so-called atheists of the 19th and 20th centuries, we’ve added the fanatic worship of sex. Such things are also why Islam is apparently gaining ground, even though when left to itself, it produces only slums surrounded by deserts.
Jay says
It became Catholicism watch as soon as the Pope sided with Muslim Jihadists. But both decisions were made by other people.

CogitoErgoSum says
It was not Catholicism raping altar boys. It was men violating the vows they took upon becoming Catholic priests. Those men did the EXACT OPPOSITE of what Catholicism teaches. In no way does Catholicism advocate or condone the rape of children or any human being. Believe it or not breaking vows and raping people are considered very serious sins in the Catholic Church. I know quite a large number of people do not believe this (apparently including some Catholic priests) but I am telling you the truth.

Any time you have a religion such as Catholics who pray to a female, the spirit of homosexuality will be prominent within the organization. If people begin to regard women as having this kind of power over God Himself on their behalf, then all kinds of strange false doctrines begin to appear and manifest themselves in perverse sexual appetites. This is what happens in any circumstance where males bow down and pray to females as in Roman Catholicism. That’s not saying anything bad about Mary at all. But she is not to be worshipped. It is in fact saying that Roman Catholicism is the epitome of a false religion and a blasphemous imitation of Christianity.

Yes, I see her as the greatest of all the saints in Heaven but she’s no goddess who outranks the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Catholics do treat her with reverence and she is very special to us because she is the mother of Jesus and we believe upon His death Jesus gave her to us all as our mother too, so we honor her as our mother. But pray to her as a goddess? Nope, that’s just not true.

She kept them and read them and because of their content decided to publish them…the result is a little book called “AA-1025 – Memoirs of the communist infiltration into the church” about a communist who purposely entered into the Catholic priesthood (along with many, many others) with the intent to subvert and destroy the church from within”….
Kepha says
While I don’t doubt that the clergy of many denominations (RC among them) have been infiltrated by Marxism-Leninism, either by dsign of hostile outsiders or by misled persons from within its ranks, this story smacks of how the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion was leaked because a Christian was hiding in the Old Jewish Cemetary of Prague one night–as if the plotting Learned Elders of Zion woudln’t have had a comfortable room somewhere in the Josefov Quarter of the city. And one wonders why some random Christian was prowling someone else’s cemetary at night.
We’re all sinners, who stand and receive salvation only through the finished work of Christ. He is called a shepherd and we are called sheep because we are ornery, prone to stray, and pretty dumb a lot of the time. We don’t need sinister infiltrators to make a mess of things.
My own take is that Western Christendom’s own faithless sons, by having us all scorn Christian theology as folly, have created legions of Vanya Karamazovs who, when their idiot half-brothers commit parricide and suicide, while their impulsive older brothers take the rap, go insane over what their own worldview has spawned. Hence the wild, paranoid conspiracy theories which have so long plagued conservative movements in the USA and elsewhere.

I have been watching him since the beginning and keeping lists of these offenses, and they are long lists. He is totally against true Christianity and totally for all that stands against it. But he has to be subtle about it you see. All the better to fool you, my pretty! (Big bad wolf to little red riding hood.) I keep saying he is the Antichrist because… he really is. All the prophesies line up. (Except some don’t understand that he must be revealed BEFORE the rapture of the church, not vice versa. But a very clever path of deception has been laid for the church to be fooled by. More on that below.) I get so tired of the wave of the hand dismissals that he must be ‘soooo naive.’ He is NOT naive, he knows exactly what he is doing, it is deception by intent and malice. I knew the church had been infiltrated on all fronts. That is why we have the apostasy. I knew who he was the minute the curtain was parted. How did I know? I listen to the Holy Spirit. I still remember the day; 3-13-13, symbolic I’m sure. They brought him out on that balcony at the vatican. I saw it on the news and it was like the Holy Spirit whispered in my ear; “that’s him.” (‘him’ in italics). You know, the son of the devil. Believe me or don’t, but time will prove it right. I don’t need to wonder. I just watch it all unfold. And I warn.
Anyway… there is a series of videos at a church website called ‘living in His presence’ in MN. If you google it the link will come up, go to messages and a list will appear. It explains (yes, what the Holy Spirit showed me before I heard it in any other way) that the church has been swallowed up by the globalist agenda. Literally all denominations.
On a note of irony, I was taking a stroll in a Little Italy not far from where I live, and I love to go there. Anyway there is a small Catholic church in there which does have lovely painted walls and ceiling inside. However, they have had pictures of francis all over, inside and outside. To make matters worse, there is a gift shop next door that just opened, and it’s one of those new age ‘all religions’ mystical type of gift shop with an obvious agenda. Well today I noticed that they either changed their name or added the word ‘Pachamama’ to the name of the gift shop! I had to laugh. If no one gets the connection, just google ‘pope and pachamama’ and the scandal will unroll. It’s one of those ‘mother earth’ pagan goddesses. They will claim everyone needs to sacrifice their babies in abortion and turn gay in order to depopulate so as to ‘save the planet’ and ‘mother earth,’ etc. But just remember…. Pachamama is Natchya mama!

It is interesting about this Pope and his anti-Capitalist, anti-Industrialist leanings which you can research outside of this forum. He is seen siding with UN Article 23 morphed into the current Article 2030 which many believe has to do with depopulating the world to make way for Elites.
Why bring this up? It’s interesting about UN World depopulation directives coinciding with lowering Greenhouse gas emissions being in the current vogue, yet at the same time, Francis promoting Islam tending to promote having large families. Large families being a net user of carbon based energy exasperating efforts to reduce.
Is there another reason for Francis and others promoting populating Western countries with Islamic inhabitants? I can’t help thinking about the cultivated chaos formed and murderous confrontation forming up as a result. Is this the ulterior motive for seeding Western societies with an incompatible ideology – to aide in killing people off quicker?

Same sex ‘marriages IOh me how far have we gone
I have a simple comparison to illustrate it. Take two negatives poles together will the storch shine definately not take two postive poles and switch ths torch on, will it shine. No it is just impossibler-. Take two lesbian and two homos, will it work ? Will they procreate a child – why do adopt children when a lesbian realtionship is normal, why do the adopt a child. Their logic beats them.
But now take a positive and a negative pole tput in a torch, will it shine. It sure will. This is how it was build to fundtion Take a man pole postive and woman pole negative or vice versa having intimate relationship etaive ehteibe agtive having intimate relationship will not at times s achild be procreatedl sure it a some time they will procate a child. That how God planned . Isn’t it?
If you look at the genitals of a man and a woman they are so fine tuned to each other.Even for lubrication during sexual in intimate realstionship Cute isn’t it., Suerlly God made verything possible so that they may enjoy proctreating a child. This is so logical and straightforward to me that I just shake my head in disbelieve as how we in the West have sunken
If you fight against logic you will be sure we will have great troubles
This is not to be judgmental but I am confused and concerned
It is not the world I grew up in with strong moral and ethical moorings
There is a puzzling word me in the Psalms The One enthroned in heaven, God scoffs at them
Some other time judgment will come and that will be very heavy
God bless

“It’s wrong to build walls” – Pope Frankie. However he lives in a marble and gold palace with 90ft walls and guards.
Do as I say not as I do.
This “Pope” is a heretic and a hypocrite, possibly the false prophet mentioned in John’s Revelation.
Marigold says
It is a good thing that some cardinals are prepared to openly oppose Pope Francis in some of the things he says because the cardinals together with the pope create the thought of the Church.
Obviously Pope Francis is not giving any credence to what St Thomas Aquinas a Doctor of the Church said about migration. He said migration had to be within reason so migrants could be easily absorbed and not create problems for the existing population. He also said migrants had to assimilate and be responsible citizens.
As for the slapping. The woman was rude and thoughtless in her enthusiasm at seeing the Pope. However, I think it was childish of the Pope to react as he did
Kepha says
I think the woman may have been a Chinese traveler or immigrant trying to call the Pope’s attention to religious persecution in China. In any case, I’ll give the Pope credit for admitting to having acted inappropriately.

I think it was a spontaneous but measured reaction. He slapped her hand as a good parent might – he did not slap her face. He was socializing her (a sign of care actually) and not demeaning her (a shortage of care). He did not neglect her proper socializing either (that would be another sign of lack of care – or weakness/apathy in the face of some other mysterious ‘authority’). Children need to learn the boundaries and what ignoring them might bring.
Dr. Spock thought he was wiser than what comes naturally and I think we’re seeing the results.

e.g. Are we seeing increased narcissism? Are we seeing increased “push” in order to test the limits?
Manipulation by design e.g. verbal, monetary, etc. rather than a natural little smack can be far more confusing and harmful.

When The Grand Imam Francis of al-Vatican speaks about Islam, the mullahs and jihadists don’t need to do any work. Frances covers up the reality and severity of the jihad threat for them.
Frances should be given the epithet ‘The Dhimmi Pope’. He has submitted to Sharia blasphemy law.

Just looking at the expression of those two men facing each other seems to say it all.

Of course this Pope is anti western and anti Christian, he is basically a communist.
Having a fear of Islam and its doctrines as preached in mosques today is completely rational.
Anyone who disagrees with either of these two statements is either a fool or worse, willfully blind.
