COLUMBUS (WCMH) — An Ohio Dominican University band member is inspiring people with more than just his music. He’s not letting a disability stop him from pursuing his passions.

Chris Harrington doesn’t have to see where he’s going, to say what he wants.

“In my opinion I’m a pretty normal person. There are some challenges that make life a pain in the neck, but some people choose to boo-hoo about them and not do anything about it but I’m not one of those people,” said Harrington.

The first year Ohio Dominican University band member was born blind, but its not stopping him from pursuing his passions.

“I just look at myself as another college kid working and going to school,” he said.

On the field he knows friend Brookelyn Johnson always has his back…literally.

“It’s not about me. It doesn’t matter how it works for me. It matters how it works for him and for him he’s able to march and able to do what everyone else is doing,” said Johnson.

His bandmates said they support him too.

“During band camp he was part of the group just like everybody else he is part of drum line there’s no exclusion we are a family.”

Harrington said being blind won’t hold him back.

“Why should it? If I see a challenge I take it on and do what I can to get through it,” said Harrington.

Inspiring people on and off the field with his music and how he sees life.
