Cannes Lions Names Spotify Its First Media Brand of the Year

The award previously honored a person instead of a company

Change is coming at Cannes Lions. This year, the festival is switching up its longstanding Media Person of the Year award, and naming a Media Brand of the Year instead. Cannes Lions announced today that Spotify is the winner of the award.

For the past decade, Cannes Liones honored the head of a company with the Media Person of the Year award, including former YouTube CEO Salar Kamangar (2013), Vice CEO Shane Smith (2016), Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg (2010) and Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge (2017).
