If you love sexy bad boy heroes with hearts of gold, heroines with the courage to fight for what they want, and love stories that encompass all time, then you’ll love this sweeping romance series.
Julie Johnstone is a USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling author. Scottish historical romance and Regency historical romance featuring highlanders and aristocrats are her love, and she enjoys creating both with a hefty dose of twists, plenty of heartstring tugs, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
Her books have been dubbed "fabulously entertaining and engaging," making readers cry, laugh, and swoon. Johnstone lives in Alabama with her very own lowlander husband, her two children - the heir and the spare, her snobby cat, and her perpetually happy dog.
In her spare time she enjoys way too much coffee balanced by super hot yoga, reading, and traveling.
It was time for a change, so travel time it was!!!! There are four books in the series, each one for every brother. However, the core plot evolves gradually, throughout these parts.
The author’s writing was amazing and motivating as to feel and live everything within the story. Rhys went to the 13th century to look for his mother and unexpectedly met the love of his life. However there were plenty of layers within this journey, exciting and very interesting!
Although I liked it a lot, I needed more development with the main characters and their interactions, and less scenes that were slightly dragging. Also, there was insta love between Rhys and Maggie which is not my favourite trope. The ending was kind of short and abrupt, with a cliffhanger for the next brother to come...
Break out the bubbly! Sinful Scot is here! And for a little tempting taste:
Maggie didn’t know how long she’d been watching him sleep, but her legs were starting to tingle, alerting her to the fact that they were becoming numb from kneeling. The sun was battling the thick, snow-laden clouds to break through the sky, and every once in a while a slash of light would glow from above and shine down on Rhys. Her breath would catch all over again at how captivating he was, even in slumber. The dark shadow of the stubble he’d had when she’d met him a week ago had grown thicker, lending a more rugged appearance to his face. His cheekbones were more prominent than before, and she bit her lip with the knowledge that he was likely not getting enough to eat. His ebony hair needed a washing, but she still wanted to plunge her fingers into it just to see what it felt like. She denied the urge, for one thing remained completely unchanged, even in sleep: he exuded dangerous power. And one did not awaken a wolf.
It's only 8 more days until the release of Sinful Scot!!!
The wind whistled suddenly, and a gust flapped Maggie's hair around her shoulders. She reached up, gathered her hair, and quickly knotted it, catching Rhys’s eyes upon her as she worked. Fire seemed to light his gray gaze from within. Did he desire her? She had never thought about such things, but now, since meeting him, it seemed to be all she could think of. A storm was coming and not just the one that blew around them. There was a tempest brewing between them. Or at least she thought there was. It felt like little stings on her skin, a prickle of awareness, a deep ache in her belly.
“It is taking every bit of control I possess not to kiss you.” Unmistakable need threaded Rhys's tone. Maggie swallowed, keenly aware that how she answered would change everything. “I have never cared for men with too much control.” She murmured the challenge, praying he would take it. He flashed a wolfish smile that made her pulse leap with excitement. “And I’ve never met a woman who could make me lose it. Until now.”
Time for Teaser Tuesday! This is brought to you from Sinful Scot, Highlanders Through Time, book 1, which will release on 2/28 *Though a little birdie told me the print version may well release sooner. :)
Rhys grinned. “In my time, you could be a doctor. You would go to something called medical school, and then you would practice medicine and heal people.”
His comment infuriated Maggie. Because if it was true, he was dangling something precious in front of her that she could never have. “Well, in my time,” she snapped, shifting from foot to foot to warm up, “I can nae be a healer because my sister and brother need me to wed, and just because I have ruined my betrothal does nae mean I will nae soon have another. And it would be unlikely that the man who will take me to wife would allow me to be a healer. For some reason, many people think it is nae a suitable duty for the lady of a castle.”
He frowned. “Maybe you will have a husband who is a forward thinker.”
“What type of thinking is that?”
“The opposite of backward,” he said with a laugh.
She plucked her hands on her hips. “If ye can nae be serious,” she said in a threatening tone, to which he looked suitably contrite and entirely too handsome.
“What I mean is that maybe your husband will let you do as you wish.”
“Doubtful,” she growled. He opened his mouth as if to protest, but then he shut it. “I must wed a powerful man who can aid my brother and sister—my sister needs a husband and my brother needs to advance in the ranks. And men with great power, in my experience, want meek, biddable, boring wives.”
If you don't like to read glimpses of stories not yet released, do not keep reading! Otherwise, enjoy this little excerpt from Sinful Scot, Highlanders Through Time, Book 1.
Maggie arched her eyebrows, a teasing smile pulling at the edges of her lips. “Is this a wager?” “Yes,” Rhys said, seizing on the lighthearted moment so he didn’t say the rest of what was in his head. “All right, then. If I attract any attention, I’ll owe ye one wish.” “Careful, Maggie,” he said, his desire for her hardening his body. “I’m not the sort of man you want to owe a wish to.” “Nay?” she whispered. “What sort of man are ye?” He thought about the ruthlessness it sometimes took to run his company. “I’m used to getting what I want,” he admitted.
I’m not going to lie, it’s always nice to have something like this happen. "So if your made of empty spaces, Don't ever think it's wrong, Because maybe they're just empty, Until the right person comes along." ~ Ernest Hemingway
He'd been empty He'd suspected it, but he hadn't known how vast the emptiness within him, until this moment. She filled him. With her flowery smell. Her silky skin. Her radiant beauty, gasping wonder, and warm kindness. She filled him with happiness he had not known possible. And desire. So much desire, he could barely think logically. He held onto just enough reason to remind himself to keep his control within his grasp. He had to be able to stop.
OMG!!! I want to post SO much more than this little tiny glimpse I'm giving you today, but I dare not! But I'll say this-this scenes made my heart pound as I wrote it! Cannot wait for the book to release, so you can read the rest!
And for your tease pleasure for the day, here is a little unedited snippet of my work in progress, Sinful Scot.
The Black Hart Inn Berntisland, Scotland
"The night is darkening round me, The wild winds coldly blow, But a tyrant spell has bound me, And I cannot, cannot go." ~Emily Bronte
The Black Hart Inn was teeming with people, but they parted automatically for Rhys as he led Maggie through the door into the common room. The heavy wooden door shut behind them with a whoosh and a click and delicious heat enveloped Maggie making her sigh. She'd not wanted to complain to Rhys, who seemed oblivious to the cold, but it had been awhile since she'd been able to feel her toes or her fingertips. She stole a glance down at her hands, frowning at the blue tint. She wiggled her fingers a bit, and had to clench her teeth against the sharp pricks of pain. At least she could move her hands. That was an improvement already. The smell of sweat and mead drifted in the air, along with the swirling scent of burning wood from the inn firepits, and a dozen delicious aromas of food that instantly made her mouth water and her stomach growl.
I have to say I honestly love the point in my books when the hero starts to change and has no control over it and knows it! Here is a little UNEDITED glimpse at my hero Rhys at the beginning of his metamorphosis. This is from Sinful Scot, book 1 in the HIGHLANDERS THROUGH TIME series.
Her response was a loud snort, and then she stomped over to Loxton’s body and motioned Rhys over to aid her. When he stood before her, he realized she was once again crying. She tried to blink her eyes and turn her face to hide the tears, but he gently grasped her chin, determined not to let her beat herself up. “Were the two of you once friends?” “Nay,” she said sniffing, her voice trembling. “In truth I barely knew him. I’ve only been at Kinghorn a month. I was called here by my brother and sister to wed , but I keep seeing his face when I threw my dagger and the blood spreading across his chest from the wound I inflicted. I—” she burst into sobs. “Why did I nae aim for his leg or, or, or-” The tears devoured her words. He enfolded her in his arms, oddly happy that her head fit perfectly under his chin. She pressed her face into his chest, her body shaking with her grief, and he stood perfectly still, holding her as if she were his to comfort and protect. He was struck by the realization that this was the first time he’d ever embraced a crying woman. He didn’t want to turn away as he always had before. He wanted to be there for her. And so they stood, and she sobbed, and he reminded her over and over in a low comforting tone that in the heat of the moment, she had simply reacted as anyone would have. He couldn’t say how long they remained unmoving, but the sun went down, the wind picked up, and the temperature started to drop, and the birds started to sing their night song. It didn’t matter how much time had passed. He didn’t give a damn. He would stand there as long as she needed him to. But what felt like just a few minutes later, she raised her head. The moment her gaze met his, he flinched at the strength of the connection he felt to her. He couldn’t be tied to this woman, but he didn’t have any idea how to stop what was happening.

Very very enjoyable start to a series. It has my attention without a doubt.Give me more.
These boys are going to grow on me and I’m pretty convinced that the series is only going to get better as it grows.
With wonderfully passionate and intense characters and a plot that is a pleasure to get your mind around. It’s going to be a wonderful journey.
The boys are a joy to get to know, Rhys. Grey, Reik and Ian are the stuff dreams are made of, all with their own personalities, loves and hates , they will get their HEA’s , but will their adventures alter destiny and history, the past will be turned on it’s ear, that’s for sure.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

My review :
When the present collide with a past, how can a woman and a man with centuries hanging between them find a way together.
This is my introduction read to Mrs Julie Johnstone’s work, and wow, why did I not read anything by her before... I loved how she mixed past and present, the modern words incomprehensible for a medieval ear and how our own society’s rules do not apply in far away time. And the switch of the heroine being swept in time to a man was a good change.
The prologue had me instantly on edge, I was sucked in the story and wondering at every twist and turn how hey will extricate themselves of the web of deceits and treason lurking around them. Rhys is a modern man, son of a successful business owner and now managing it. Still he was not exactly prepared to land in the XIIIth century, and while he had granted his mother’s wishes to learn Gaelic and medieval history, he never understood the why of her requests. He is such an honorable man, why his dilemma during the whole story weighted on him so much. He can’t abandon his family back in 2020 but he is also torn about his growing attachment to Maggie, she moves something in him and he can’t find a way to go back to his time and be with her at the same time. Maggie is a historical heroine as I love them, no badass woman but a woman of her time, weaker because of her lack of physical strength and the society’s limitations embedded since birth but also able to defend herself in her own way and at time refusing to allow the choices made for her to define her. She is also clever and kind, accepting her mistakes and trying to right them but also able to listen and grab when she is facing a life changing moment. I loved them together, each learning from each other, jointly they ride to a decisive experience.
This first book in a series while standing alone leaves me with the urge to read the next, to see what journey the McCaim siblings will embark in.
I was granted an advance copy of this book and preordered my own. Here is my true and unbiased opinion.
Sinful Scot (Highlanders Through Time Book 1) by Julie Johnston and Cecelia Mecca I ♥️’d this timeless love story❣️ I’m not a time travel fan however, with two great authors co-writing, how could I go wrong? I was not disappointed, quite the opposite, I’m extremely looking forward to the next book in this series! The storyline is well written and flows seamlessly with great world and character building including a witty dialogue through two time periods. I found this story engaging, exciting, and a page turner with conspiracies, betrayal, secret alliances, and treason that spans centuries and continents. I highly recommend this historical time travel romance novel. Happy Reading ♥️
Genre: Historical/Contemporary Time Travel Romance Book Content: Adult Heat Level: 3 flames out of 5.
Billionaire shipping magnate Rhys McCaim and his three younger brothers think their father is losing his mind from grief since their mother's sudden disappearance five years ago. There's no way she could actually be a displaced time traveler, snatched back to her own time in medieval Scotland. But when their father winds up in a coma, Rhys and his brothers start looking into their dad's time travel theories and notes more seriously, even testing out a chant themselves. When Rhys suddenly finds himself in 13th century Scotland, he can't deny the truth of his father's ramblings any longer. Now he's an oddball highlander in a country on the edge of war and he knows he must return to his own time with all due haste, but first his must find his mom. Rhys finds the perfect guide in the beautiful Maggie, but he knows he can't lower his guard or allow himself to be distracted, despite the exceptionally new draw he feels toward her.
Lady Margaret Irvine is betrothed to a rather despicable English baron who only wants her castle. Though she doesn't wish to, Maggie must marry him to restore some of her family's good name and ensure better lives for her brother and sister. She's resigned herself to a life of loneliness and an unhappy marriage, but when a handsome stranger literally pops up out of thin air, all her plans are thrown awry. To save his life, Maggie must risk everything and take a path that will render her future very uncertain. This risk becomes even more real as she begins to fall for Rhys and dream of a new future with him, only to learn that the truth of him is even more complicated than she could've ever dreamed. With Rhys' knowledge they could potentially rewrite Scotland's bloody history, but only if he can bring himself to let Maggie in and doing so will leave him even more torn between his family and his heart's desire.
I couldn't put this book down. This was great writing and the pace was very fast, with enough stress to keep me invested (maybe too much so at times!). Rhys was a fantastic hero and I think Maggie was a great compliment to him. I can't wait for the other brothers' stories.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
THIS. BOOK. IS. AWESOME!!! What a way to start a new series. Sinful Scot by Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca is book 1in the Highlanders Through Time series. This is a time travel story from Medieval Scotland to present. Both Julie & Cecelia are two of my favorite authors and if you asked which is my favorite I couldn’t say but put these two dynamic duo together and WOW…I am speechless. I can’t say enough about this book. What an amazing team they make and this book has me so excited for the the rest of this series. The characters are wonderful, the storyline original, it gives you the true feeling of being back in the 1200 Scotland. This story has a king’s death, traitors, innocents, a dying father, a love for a parent, believing, kidnapping, a forced marriage, kindness, never giving up, a hanging, protectiveness, a flogging and love. YOU HAVE TO READ THIS STORY!!! I highly recommend that you do!!!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
What a wonderful book this time travel romance is. Really well written and strong characters. Can't wait for the second one in this series. Not to be missed if you like time ravel romance.
Sinful Scot by Julie Johnstone is the first book in the Highlanders Through Time series. This series will have 4 books, 2 by Julie and 2 by Cecelia Mecca. Both are favourite authors of mine so I am very much looking forward to this collaboration.
The series starts back in time when Shona, a woman fleeing for her life ends up travelling through time to the future. We don't see what her life is like but we know that she is married and has 4 grown-up sons all before suddenly being dragged back to her own time. That was 5 years ago and since then Shona's husband has been trying to find a way to get her back, his sons think he has gone insane but all that changes when they discover all the research their father has done, and in turn find the instrument and the incantation that might be what brought their mother through time. As much as the 4 brothers don't expect the incantation to work, they each hold onto the artefact and say it, and therein really begins their stories.
Rhys McCaim finds himself out of the 21st century and into the 13th one. He is now in Scotland and the country is on the verge of war. He needs to find his mother and he needs to get her home to 2020 and back to his father who desperately needs her if he has any chance of waking from a coma. The question is, just where does he start on his quest.
Maggie Irvine is betrothed to a man she can't stand. A cruel man who will undoubtedly be a cruel husband. She has no choice except to marry him for the sake of her brother and sister. When Rhys comes across her circumstances occur that end with him being whipped and imprisoned by Maggie's betrothed. She worries that he will be killed and sets out to free him. They both end up on the run and on a search for Rhys' mother.
Rhys worries about his brothers wondering if they too travelled when he did, he worries about his father's deteriorating health, he worries about finding his mother and he worries about being in a country where what he knows could change history. He also finds himself very attracted to Maggie but scared of all-consuming love and the consequences of falling for somebody in the 13th century. Maggie too finds herself very much attracted to Rhys, she believes he is from the future, she wants to help him. She wants HIM. But she knows she will have to marry her evil intended or risk her siblings' lives. Can our couple find happiness or will circumstances conspire against them?
I really enjoyed Rhys and Maggie's story, it had just the right amount of disbelief about time travel which turned into belief at the right pace too. Rhys had 5 years in which his father always talked about it, so when it actually happened to him it was more of an 'I'll be damned' reaction than absolute shock. As for Maggie, her acceptance of the time Rhys has travelled from wasn't difficult to believe either because he speaks differently, he was wearing clothes she had never seen before, and he proved easily through facts of things about to occur in history that he did indeed come from the future. Their romance and passion were marvellous despite them both knowing all the reasons why they shouldn't give in to temptation.
I am very much looking forward to the continuation of this story, this time the book, Sexy Scot will be written by Cecelia Mecca and it's about Rhys's brother Greyson.
For now, though, I am more than happy to recommend Rhys's story.
From the beginning of this fast paced tale you are catapulted into mysteries about the McCaim and McKinnish Clans from 1286 to 2020. Rhys McCaim doesn't believe the tale that his mother was a time traveler from Scotland in the year 1286. His parents were married, built a successful life and then 5 years ago his mother disappeared again. He thinks his Dad has lost his mind in believing in time travel. When Rhy's Dad who is very ill and in the hospital begs him to find Shona, his Mom. Rhys agrees and begins his own time traveling journey. Maggie Irvine is betrothed to the Baron Bellecote, who only wants her castle and land in 1286, Scotland. She decides to sneak out of the castle for one last bit of freedom. She goes swimming in the Ocean and meets a strange man who is wearing clothes like no one has ever seen before. Rhys McCaim and Maggie Irvine's worlds collide in more ways than one. Adventures, misadventures, discovering who one can trust and that love is love no matter what time period you are in. One of my favorite Julie Johnstone and Cecilia Meccaca books. I can't wait for the next book in the adventure.

Still, his father insists that she didn’t leave them willingly but was pulled through time to her true home in medieval Scotland. This is the first in a four book series about the four McCaim brothers & oh what a starter - totally engrossing I couldn't put it down & read it in two sittings. I was hooked from the Author's note at the beginning & left wanting the next book immediately when I finished it. A fast paced plot that at times had me at the edge of my seat, wonderful characters & a lovely romance. I loved both Rhys & Maggie, especially how they protected each other whilst all the time falling in love. A highlight of the book, for me, was the differences in the language used. Thank goodness it’s not long to wait until the next book My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
This book is a great start to a new 4-book series. I do love time-travel romance books and this one was great. A swoon-worthy hero from the 21st century traveling back to the 13th century? Imagen the possibilities. The difference in language and customs is perfectly described. And I love that the author took a historical event and changed it to "what if". It only left me with one question - when is the next book coming out?!
Good story. First of four books. One book per couple. The author has based her story around a time of sketchy history so there is an element of truth there but embellished. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. HEA. Breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series. Preview of next book at end.
I love historical romance although I’m not a huge fan of time travel I do love a good romance with a Scot in it. I really like the premise of the brothers going back to find their mother. Rhys, the oldest brother, and Maggie, the Scottish lass he meets when he goes back in time, were a sweet and spicy couple. When it ended I was like more I need more, so I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the series!
This time travel book is awesome, great work by two of my favorite authors. The story is full of intrigue, action, and romance that included some tasteful spice. The story is so nail biting, I couldn’t put it down. I loved it and highly recommend it
Sinful Scot is book one in the new time travel series Highlanders Through Time by Julie Johnstone. I think this book was very well written. It held my attention from the first chapter. The author managed to infuse quite a bit of history in her story without it coming across dry and stale. I think I have a crush on the hero Rhys McCain. Handsome, brave and yet gentle, Rhys is the man we all long for in our lives. I also liked the heroine Maggie Irvine. She is spunky without being cruel or sarcastic. “The sun was battling the thick, snow-laden clouds to break through the sky, and every once in awhile a slash of light would glow from above and shine down on Rhys. Her breath would catch all over again at how captivating he was, even in slumber. The dark shadow of the stubble he’d had when she’d met him a week ago had grown thicker, lending a more rugged appearance to his face. His cheekbones were more prominent than before, and she bit her lip the knowledge that he was likely not getting enough to eat. His ebony hair needed a washing, but she still wanted to plunge her fingers into it just to see what it felt like. She denied the urge, for one thing remained completely unchanged, even in sleep: he exuded dangerous power. And one did not awaken a wolf.” There are several steamy sex scenes expertly written by Johnstone. My only negative in the story is I found myself wondering about setting in a few scenes. Other than that, I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I was given a copy of this book.
I love time travel stories and I really enjoyed this one, especially since it's the hero that comes from the future instead of the heroine which is the usual. Julie Johnstone does an excellent job of writing Rhys and Maggie's story, using true historical facts and blending in her imagination with them. Imagine having a chance to alter history AND meet your ancestors!!
Rhys and his brothers have always thought their father's brain was addled with his stories of their mother being from the past until they discover a spell and Rhys finds out the hard way that his father's stories were true after all! When he finds himself in the year 1286 and not only does he come upon a beautiful woman, he also finds himself captured, flogged and thrown in a dungeon.
Maggie doesn't know what to make of this man who suddenly appears next to her in the water as she's taking a swim! When the evil Baron she's betrothed to comes upon them, she's horrified to see Rhys being dragged away. Blaming herself for that, she will do anything to free him and so their adventure begins....
Very well written and your thoughts will go from one way to another, thinking of what will happen if history gets altered and the consequences of it. Rhys needs to find his mother, needs to go back to his own time but yet he doesn't want to leave Maggie behind. A must read and I'm now looking forward to the rest of this series!!
New Orleans, year 2020, billionaire Rhys McCaim and his two younger brothers are desperate to find his mother, who suddenly disappeared five years ago. Now, their father has become gravely ill and slipped into a coma. Their only hope lies in finding their mother to bring him back to the living. The only problem is their dad believes their mother time traveled to her time in Scotland. The three brothers dig through the study of their father looking for clues. What they find will change their beliefs and futures forever. Scotland, year 1296, Maggie is in a loch when a stranger appears from out of nowhere. Meet another person whose life will change forever. This is the first book in a collaboration of Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca’s called Highlander’s Through Time. Books 1 and 3 are by Julie Johnstone and 2 and 4 by Cecelia Mecca. This series promises to be EPIC if book 1 is an example. They are both awesome authors and I can’t wait for brother number 2s story. I was so entranced by this book and it’s premise and characters, I could hardly put it down. It is so good you won’t be disappointed. I highly recommend this book. I was gifted this book and am voluntarily reviewing. My thoughts and opinions are my own. Five stars for this wonderful book.
An amazing fast paced journey that catapults you through time and will leave you waiting anxiously to see what happens next! With Julie Johnstone's insight into history and creating the world of Scotland 1286, the visualization in her words made me feel I was looking down as scenes unfolded. The first few pages are powerful and set the stage of the battles between the English and Scottish. In the present day 2020, One of three brothers, Rhys McCaim, recites an ancient time travel spell that throws Rhys into Scotland 1286. He could not believe it and found out his father had been telling the truth about his mother and that she had traveled back years ago. Now Rhys finds himself a Highlander and in the path of Maggie Irvine. Beautiful Maggie who is being forced to marry a terrible man to save her family. When Rhys appears before her and she finds out why he is there, everything changes. Marry the man and duty to her family? Or help the gorgeous man from the future? I want to know the words to that spell! What an adventure and with the heartfelt words of this amazing author, I just melted. Yes I had to highlight half of my kindle and go back and read some lines and just sigh. Oh yes, sigh many times.... Calgon take me away... or rather let Julie take you away!!! Brilliant.
In the first book in this exciting series, Rhys finds himself traveling through time to attempt an intervention for his father, who is desperately trying to find a way to reach his missing wife. Landing in 1286 Scotland leaves Rhys bewildered, but not nearly as shocked as Maggie Irvine. This novel is exciting, fast-paced and takes the reader on an unbelievable ride through history. Rhys is a strong hero and despite his lack of training as a warrior, is quite able to defend both himself and Maggie. However, Maggie is just as protective of him and when the situation calls for it, the gentle healer does the unthinkable. The romance in this book builds slowly with both main characters feeling their way, aware of their differing cultures. When Rhys discovers at least one person who acknowledges that he is telling the truth, he is relieved to find he has support. Nevertheless, coming from 2020 makes it difficult for Rhys to make any claims in an era where any unusual occurrences are viewed as witchcraft and severely dealt with. However, fighting for Maggie's love makes everything worthwhile. I received a copy of this well written book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
“She’d never thought she’d find such unimaginable love, but that was one confession she’d wait to whisper to Rhys when they were alone tonight lost in their own time.”
“He lowered his lips and pressed the whisper of a kiss to her neck. “There was never a chance it could be anything but forever with us, sweet wife of mine.” (Sigh........) Every woman dreams of such a love.
Such an exciting Scottish tale by Julie Johnstone! Sinful Scot is a captivating Scottish historical time travel romance readers will love from beginning to end. Ms. Johnstone has a magical way with words and descriptive detail. A great writer makes the reader jump inside the story and travel every step with the characters. That is exactly what I did with this story. I really loved this story. Beautifully written, it is a journey back in time. Such a beautiful love story. This is the kind of story you’ll want to read many times. I highly recommend Sinful Scot by Julie Johnstone.
Whether or not you like time travel stories, I implore you to read this book. It makes you think of all the what if’s that could have changed the course of history. I’m intrigued at the thought of what this couple can or will do and now I can hardly wait for the next book in the series. Great characters, lots of action, but most of all a tender romance that builds slowly and ignites. The author does an incredible job of transplanting the reader and I believe I’m still stuck in medieval Scotland!
Great start to a new series! The authors do a fantastic job bringing strong, well developed characters with an intriguing and interesting story line. They blend past and present beautifully ,pulling you in with their detailed writing and vividly painted scenes, taking you back to the day in realistic fashion. I was glued to the pages reading Rhys and Maggie's story and am looking forward to the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Lots of twists and turns in this story. When Rhys goes back in time to find his mother, little does he know that his life will change forever. Rhys gets into trouble trying to help Margaret (Maggie) and ends up in the dungeon. How Maggie helps Rhys search for his mother, makes for an exciting storyline and keeps your interest from start to finish. I loved this book and look forward to reading the next one in the series.
Rhys's woman has no idea what to make of him, “Ye’ve a wish to die or ye do nae have brains,” she muttered..." The man doesn't mind boasting every once in awhile, “every man is different, Maggie, but I’m a big guy, so my parts are big.” He was grinning now. He couldn’t damn well help it..." I liked this book, I liked Rhys.
I loved this book and can’t wait until the next installment of this series. I love time travel stories and the historical element is fantastic, The characters are awesome and the story has you feeling every emotion. I was sucked in from the beginning and enjoyed every page.

This is my first time reading a time travel story and I was not disappointed. I usually skip this genre, but I love these authors. I downloaded the book through the free time on Kindle Unlimited and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The plot was well-conceived. A lot of research on Scottish history was done and made the story more real. What a difference between 21st century America and 13th century Scotland. Rhys McCaim finds himself in Scotland in 1286 after reciting a time-travel spell he is skeptical about. He travels to a different land and a different time and stumbles into Maggie Irvine who guides him to his ancestral home. Rhys and Maggie are wonderful together, a connection that transcends time. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
