BOTOX® for Axillary Hyperhidrosis

botox-sweating

Excess Armpit sweating, also known as Axillary Hyperhidrosis is a common problem affecting up to 1 million people in the UK alone.

Treatment of Axillary Hyperhidrosis

Axillary Hyperhidrosis can be heavily embarrassing leading to constant changing of clothes, the avoidance of wearing certain colours and fabrics, social exclusion in the workplace and body odour.

BOTOX injected just under the skin of the armpit stops the signals from the nerve to the sweat gland, this then causes a reduction in the production of sweat.

Results can be variable but most people see a significant decrease in sweat production which can last for 6-9 months and sometimes longer.

Preparation for Axillary Hyperhidrosis treatment with BOTOX

You will need to prepare the armpit area by trimming or shaving the hair. This will allow Dr Dan Dhunna to assess the area and map out the appropriate regions for injections. It is also a good idea to avoid wearing anti-perspirant on the day of your treatment.

Also suitable for:

  • Bridal Parties
  • Runners
  • Gym Enthusiasts and Body Builders
  • Models, Actors and Dancers

Frequently asked questions about Botox for Axillary Hyperhidrosis

Does it hurt?

The procedure involves minimal discomfort. The injection process is relatively quick and topical anaesthetic can be used but the use of cold ice on the treatment area is preferable to minimise pain and to decrease any mild swelling that may occur.

How soon do I see results?

Results usually become apparent in about a week but gradually improve upto a month after treatment

What are the Side Effects?

Most side effects are limited to the injection process. Some mild redness, swelling and discomfort can occur. The vast majority of which, settles down over the next day or so. As the injections are placed superficially in the skin, it is very unlikely that any damage can be done to any of the underlying structures.
No downtime is needed and you can go back to work straight away, but strenuous activity is advised against for the first 48 hours. You can wash and shower as normal.
