Crocodile tears are one thing... but it's not often you see crocodile tyres.

This poor reptile was spotted with a motorcycle tyre around its neck, and gasping for air, in Indonesia.

These tragic photos were snapped on the outskirts of Palu, and show the direct effects littering has on wildlife.

The 10ft-long creature heads to the riverbank and looks helpless as the residents watch it struggle. The tyre is believes to be from a Vespa scooter.

Locals were unable to help the dying animal without the proper equipment.

The photos were taken on September 20 so the reptile is likely dead by now.

Crocodile fans tried to rescue the creature back in September according to The Jakarta Post

People attempted to lure the beast onto land with a live chicken and chicken meat but it would not bite.

A volunteer estimated the crocodile was 10 feet long.

The crocodile is thought to be a Siamese crocodile or a saltwater crocodile. In 1992 the Siamese crocodile was reported 'virtually extinct' in the wild.

The Siamese crocodile is currently on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) red list as critically endangered.

The saltwater crocodile is also on the red list and is labeled 'lower risk.'
