Geotab buys Intendia to boost growth in Europe

Global telematics provider Geotab has acquired Intendia, a Spanish engineering firm specialised in integrating tech solutions for the European heavy-truck market. The acquisition adds to Geotab’s engineering capabilities, complements its product portfolio and boosts its growth opportunities in Europe.

For nearly 10 years, Intendia has been providing integrated technology solutions to customers in Spain, the UK, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden and Portugal. Intendia’s solution helps heavy-truck fleets adhere to European compliance laws governing driving hours, rest times, maximum speeds, etcetera.

Driver behaviour
In so doing, the company has increased safety in terms of driver behaviour and helped to improve the operational management of heavy-truck fleets. Intendia is headquartered in Madrid – also the location of Geotab’s largest European office.

Commenting on the acquisition of his company by Geotab, Intendia CEO Juan Javier Baca Moreno-Torres said: “Our skilled hardware, firmware and software engineering teams have delivered the highest-quality products and services to our fleet customers, and we look forward to expanding Geotab’s product and services portfolio and continuing to deliver industry-leading technology, tailored to European fleets’ requirements.”

Rapid growth
Geotab CEO Neil Cawse (pictured) commented: “Geotab is enjoying rapid growth in Europe and the Intendia team will help to further enhance our ability to meet the unique needs of the European market by providing localized value-add to our customers as well as help grow our market potential.”

These are good times for Geotab. The IoT and connected-transportation specialist recently featured on Deloitte’s list of fastest-growing tech companies in North America for the eighth year running. For the past three years, Geotab has experienced an average year-on-year growth rate of 40%.

Mobility Connect
Welcoming more than 150 attendees to its Mobility Connect conference in Estoril, Portugal earlier this month, Geotab continues to focus its efforts on not just global expansion, but European expansion specifically.

The company recently announced new office openings in both Rome, Italy and Paris, France and has more than doubled the number of employees working across the European continent over the last year.
