BookExpo (BE) announced a series of panels and roundtables for its forthcoming trade show featuring a number of industry CEOs and leaders. The program, done in conjunction with the Association of American Publishers, includes two CEO panels with the top executives from publishers and industry organizations. .

The first panel, called "Leadership Roundtable: Publishers on Publishing," will feature Penguin Random House CEO Markus Dohle, Simon & Schuster CEO Carolyn Reidy, and Macmillan CEO John Sargent. BE said the trio will "reflect on industry trends, market highlights, and the power and responsibilities of publishers as global, corporate citizens." The roundtable, set for May 31 at 9:45 a.m., will be moderated by AAP president and CEO Maria A. Pallante.

The second panel in this leadership line of programming, called "State of the Industry: Publishing and Copyright Policy," moderated by AP reporter Hillel Italie, will feature Pallante, Authors Guild executive director Mary Rasenberger and CEO of the Copyright Alliance, Keith Kupferschmid. This talk, set for May 30 at 10 a.m., will, BE said, "explore the equities of copyright law as they relate to authors, publishers, and other aspects of the public interest, from the promise of global digital commerce to the evolving legal landscape in the courts and on Capitol Hill."

Senior v-p of BookExpo, Ed Several, said these panels will allow BE attendees to hear "the leading experts discuss the most important topics in publishing," and "provide our audience with invaluable takeaways they can use to better their own businesses." The event also, he noted, "further reinforce our effort to reimagine BookExpo into the place where the business of bookselling gets done in North America.”
