Il pezzo di Report di ieri sul vaccino contro l’HPV è da scuola di giornalismo: “come fare disinformazione acchiappando gli ascolti”. Se i giornalisti avessero fatto il loro dovere, cioè quello di raccogliere la notizia, documentarsi e spiegare la faccenda al pubblico, il pezzo sarebbe dovuto essere questo:
1) A partire da alcune segnalazioni, alcuni neurologi in Giappone sollevano il dubbio che il vaccino contro l’HPV possa scatenare alcune sindromi neurovegetative, caratterizzate dalle sigle POTS e CRPS (rispettivamente Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome e Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). Questa è una notiziona, perchè il governo giapponese sospende la raccomandazione all’offerta attiva della vaccinazione e, immediatamente, la copertura contro il papillomavirus crolla drammaticamente. Peccato che questo accadeva nel 2013, quasi quattro anni fa, e nessuno dei giornalisti di Report si è filato la notizia nemmeno di striscio.
2) Il mondo scientifico osserva con attenzione il fenomeno e, quasi unanimemente, si respinge l’ipotesi di associazione fra queste sindromi e la vaccinazione. Tranne che in Danimarca, dove una neurologa prende a cuore il caso di alcune ragazze che si sono sentite danneggiate dalla vaccinazione e inizia a fare una ricerca attiva di casi simili. Appunto: ricerca casi di ragazze vaccinate che abbiano sviluppato sintomi riconducibili a POTS o CRPR. Non fa uno studio epidemiologico, fa solo una ricerca attiva di casi! A questo segue un documentario e la pubblicazione di un libro (The vaccinated girls) che fa molto scalpore in Danimarca. Ovviamente anche questa notizia passa sotto silenzio.
3) In seguito alle segnalazioni dal Giappone e dalla Danimarca, l’EMA avvia una minuziosa indagine sulla possibile relazione fra vaccino HPV e POTS/CRPS. La relazione, pubblicata nel novembre 2015, conclude che non vi è alcuna evidenza di relazione causa effetto fra vaccinazione e POTS/CRPS. Tale relazione è disponibile da due anni sul sito di EMA.
4) Anche l’OMS avvia una indagine sulla materia, mettendo in campo la Commissione Globale per la Sicurezza Vaccinale (GACVS). Anche questa commissione dichiara che non esiste alcuna evidenza di associazione causale. Il documento è consultabile pubblicamente dal dicembre 2015.
5) Nel frattempo un ricercatore danese, coordinatore del centro Cochrane nazionale, prende a cuore la cosa e accusa EMA di aver valutato la questione in modo superficiale. In realtà adduce pochi argomenti tecnici e scientifici, basando la sua critica principalmente ponendo un problema di mancanza di trasparenza e presenza di conflitto di interessi. Ecco il documento risalente ad un anno fa.
