Six Designers to Know for Oslo Runway SS19

Packed into three days, 14 – 16 August, Oslo Runway SS19 is the unassuming Scandinavian fashion week that packs a real punch. This season builds on the successes of the past few seasons to bring the biggest and most exciting line-up yet. Norwegian designers take centre stage here, so if you don’t know much about the Norwegian fashion scene, this roster is a great place to start in terms of both well-known and emerging brands.

Here are the fashion designers we’re looking forward to seeing at Oslo Runway SS19:

List Marker: Number 1Bror August

Internationally renown artist and fashion designer Bror August Vestbø has presented at New York Fashion Week multiple times, but this season Oslo Runway is the lucky venue for his cool, thoughtful creations. Bror August’s work is daring, rendered in simple lines, rich colors, and high-quality materials.

List Marker: Number 2Tonje Plur

The ethereal, poetic work of Tonje Plus comes to Oslo Runway for the first time this season. Her latest collection is inspired by Sami youth living in the Sámpi, Northern Norway, and the designer’s personal interactions as well as her interpretation of social media.

List Marker: Number 3Moiré

This is maximum Scandinavian; Moiré somehow both minimalist and packed with small details that elevate each piece. The clothes look luxe, and are easy to dress up or down.

List Marker: Number 4Kit Wan

Oslo-based, Hong Kong-raised Kit Wan explores the worlds of industrial design, manga, and sci fi. Wan’s work is multi-layered, visually astounding, and full of passion. We can’t wait to see his latest collection!

List Marker: Number 5Serac

An outerwear company founded by an industrial designer – now that’s something the cold North truly needs. Serac is the brainchild of Tove Mortvedt, former lead technical designer at Helly Hansen. Started in 2016, the line has quickly become synonymous with high-quality and chic performance outerwear. Parkas that are this functional and look good too? Yes please.

List Marker: Number 6Anne Karine Thorbjørnsen

Norwegian designer Anne Karine Thorbjørnsen launched her line in 2012. She puts an unexpected, artistic twist on classic pieces from the blazer to the shirt dress. Her draping ability is highly respected in the industry and all her work reflects incredible craftsmanship.
