S.T.A.N.D. The Haiti Project

This October, I will be traveling with a nonprofit group called STAND (Sustainable Therapy and New Development). The mission is to establish permanent access to orthopedic rehabilitative services in the country of Haiti through direct patient care and clinical training of its citizens.

Decades of colonialism, exploitation, and systemic oppression have left most Haitians with the shortest end of the stick, but I hear their resilience, fierceness, and strength is unlike any in the world. A physical therapist-led multidisciplinary team consisting of orthotists, prosthetists, general medical staff, and students will work their asses off for 2 weeks to deliver care to those in need and, more importantly, educate locals on basic orthopedic principles and self-care to establish access to long-term, sustainable rehabilitative services in one of the most poverty-stricken regions of the world.

Please watch this VIDEO and contribute whatever you feel called to give.
(A few dollars will go a long way. The average Haitian today lives on less than $2/day)

On the back of this page, I have included a list of possible donation items for the operation. I am committed to get as many of these supplies down there as possible with checked baggage. In addition to NWPT’s sponsorship of my trip, any monetary donation here will go directly to STAND and be used to purchase and transport more supplies.
