BURGAW, NC (WECT) - A fire destroyed a home in Burgaw Friday morning.

According to Michael Carlisle, deputy fire marshal for Pender County, multiple crews responded to the 3300 block of Whitestocking Road shortly before 8 a.m. after receiving a 911 call about a house fire.

Carlisle said crews finally managed to bring the house fire under control around 9:30 a.m.

The home and a neighboring storage shed were destroyed in the fire, Carlisle said.

No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.

Carlisle said crews are waiting for the house to cool off some before beginning an investigation into the cause of the fire.

The Red Cross has been contacted and is in the process of helping the family.

The Burgaw, Rocky Point, Penderlea, and Maple Hill fire departments along with Pender EMS and Fire, the Pender County Fire Marshal's Office and NC Forestry responded to the fire.
