What $2,250/month rents in NYC right now

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a weekly column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various NYC neighborhoods. Is one man’s studio another man’s townhouse? Let’s find out! Today, we’re looking at apartments renting around $2,250/month.

↑ This Yorkville studio isn’t huge, but it has some perks: It was recently renovated, it comes with a dishwasher and an in-unit washer/dryer—that’s the dream!—and it has access to a private patio. One drawback: It’s on 82nd Street between York and East End avenues, so a bit of a schlep from the subway. It’s asking $2,250/month, but with two months of free rent and no broker’s fee.

↑ In a fancy new Ridgewood building—a pet spa, fitness center, and common lounge are among its amenities—a one-bedroom is renting for $2,245/month. The apartment itself has all of the usual luxury rental offerings: new kitchen and bathroom, hardwood floors, a terrace, you get the idea. It also benefits from being a quick walk from several subway stops (though take note, transit watchers; many of them are L stations).

↑ Another studio, this one in Murray Hill, is going for $2,275/month. The listing claims it’s 450 square feet, which isn’t too bad; it’s otherwise a standard apartment, though it does, apparently, come with views of the building’s shared garden.

↑ Head uptown and you’ll find a Hamilton Heights two-bedroom for $2,227/month—slightly under our stated budget, and more spacious than some of the other options in today’s column. This apartment on Convent Avenue was recently renovated, and has new kitchen appliances and cabinets, a revamped bathroom, and other new fixtures. Exposed brick adds some vintage charm.

↑ And finally, in Park Slope, a unit billed as a one and a half bedroom is going for $2,250/month. It’s located in a lovely brownstone on Fourth Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues—a pretty prime location—and per the listing, the bedroom is large, the kitchen is renovated, and there’s a small room that could work as an office.
