MONTANA — (Billings Gazette) — On May 12, 2017, Billings Police officers were called to the Rims in Billings after a woman reported her boyfriend was threatening suicide.

30-year-old Ryan Lowell engaged in an hour-long standoff with police before pointing a gun at officers and firing. Officers returned fire, and after being given medical aid by officers and taken to a Billings hospital, Lowell was pronounced dead.
