If you’ve been to Ward Village lately, you likely did a double take when you looked up and saw a glass-bottom pool that cantilevers beyond the building edge, extending out over the sidewalk 75 feet below. Anaha is Ward Village’s latest building to open, and its pool is literally over the edge—so much so that people are stopping on the sidewalk to stare.

The pool measures 75 feet long by 15 feet wide, and functions both as a lap and leisure pool for Anaha residents. Anaha, which means “reflection of light,” was designed with the play of light on water in mind. The saltwater pool, designed by locally owned Pacific Aquascapes, is the first of its kind in Honolulu. Anaha sets a new tone for the evolving architecture of Honolulu, with 244 tower units/penthouses and 73 townhomes/flats enhanced by resort-style amenities, including a beach volleyball court, library, theater, lounges, barbecue cabanas, dog park, children’s play areas and tennis courts.
